Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Luke the Golden
Luke the Golden

Hi Judy! I am sooo glad to hear about your shelter! I adopted Luke two and a half years ago and he is a joy! He is my alarm clock! He "talks" to me every morning and it is so wonderful to wake up with a smile on your face everyday! All of you do such wonderful things for this community and I appreciate the fact that all of you do what you do! Just so you know, there will ALWAYS be a "rescue" in my home. When they get "settled" and "secure" their personalities bloom and I receive such joy from that! I have always had "rescue" dogs and Luke is as special and wonderful as the others. What a personality! These animals are so grateful and thankful for a second chance - How could anyone make another choice? Thanks for saving my boy. Take care, Lori and Luke!!!!

Lucy the Tri-legged Puppy
Lucy the Tri-legged Puppy

We adopted Lucy over Memorial Day weekend and she has become such a wonderful addition to our family. Lucy was rescued from Seminole County Animal Control and, at the time, she had an injured right leg due to being hit by a car. PRBJ got her to the vet right away, but unfortunately her leg could not be saved. Despite having her leg amputated, Lucy is a very active girl. She loves to run, go for walks, and even dig in the back yard! She is also incredibly sweet and she always looks like she's smiling. To PRBJ, thank you for the amazing work that you do. We are so grateful to have Lucy! (In the photo Lucy is the tan dog on the right. She was sitting pretty for a treat!) ~ Ashley

Lilo
Lilo

Hey there this is lyla's (lilo's) mom. I thought it would be great to let you guys know how Lyla has adapted to her new home. After dropping off supplies to the shelter I asked to see the dogs and Lyla was the only one that really caught my eye.She had a black and pink tongue and had a great presence .I let her out of her cage and she jumped up and put my arm in her mouth I thought this was hilarious. I fostered her for two weeks and boy were those two weeks hectic. Michelle had warned us about lylas temper and tendency to be possesive and aggressive even with other dogs. She would take a toy, go under the bed and if we went anywhere near her she went wild. She would snarl and bite and try to attack my fiance and I. She would do the same with dogs. There was a point where we weren't sure if we were going to adopt her. This broke my heart knowing lyla had been in and out of three homes already because of this behavior. Being an experienced dog owner I knew I could fix it. A couple of whacks on her behind let her know I'm the boss and her stupidity would not fly with me. Now She is the sweetest most gentle giant EVER. Its been six wonderful months with my baby lyla. She is amazingly smart and could learn a new trick within minutes. She even showed off a handshake the last time she saw judy. And oh boy is she spoiled. Her and our newer puppy who is now 3 months old get along great. They are both regulars in the dog park, beach, and petsmart. They go where I go. Lyla even sits down like a person in the back seat. She is such a lady. She still does the jumping which is a bit to handle now that she is almost 65 pds, but I cant help but let her do it. Thank you Judy for giving me this wonderful girl. I love her so much. ~ Megan L.

Luna
Luna

Judy, We adopted Cody (f/k/a Luna) three years ago. She is the light of our life. Because of the socialization she received from you before we adopted her, She acclimated to family and friends immediately. She loves people and demands constant love and affection. As you can see by the attached picture, she’ll do anything for attention, even climb on our African animals which are hung 20 feet high. Keep up the fantastic work you are doing. ~ Linda D.
