Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Mia the Sweet Lady Akita
Mia the Sweet Lady Akita

Hi Melanie. I just wanted to give you an update on Mia. She is doing GREAT! It took her a few days to warm up to us, but now she is showing us more of her personality. She is super sweet. She has been great with the kids and is good with the cats too--she basically ignores them. She hasn't had an accident. She didn't eat a lot at first but the vet said I can mix a little wet food with her dry food and now that I do that she is eating normal. I will be taking her next month for the Fast kill method to rid her of heart worms and we got a spray for her hot spot. She seems very happy. She loves going for walks and gets at least 4 a day. She is a great addition to our family and a total love bug! There was a small minor incident with the cats, its a funny story--she is a very smart dog! I know that she had food aggression with other dogs but I wasn't worried about that as she is the only dog. One of the cats was sniffing her dry food. Mia took out a piece of dry food and placed it in the middle of the floor well away from her wet food. The cat went to sniff the dry food and Mia let out one bark telling the cats its my food regardless of where it is. It was funny and shows how smart she is. She just did that one bark, didn't go after the cats or anything. We are so thrilled to have her and grateful to rescue her. Thanks for everything and for all the hard work you do at PRBJ. Sincerely, Christina
