Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Ketch the Redbone Coonhound
Ketch the Redbone Coonhound

Hey Kaily! We just wanted to give you an update on Ketch the coon hound. He's doing great with us. He loves being a couch potato at night and running a lot during the day. He rides with us to the dog park and loves the other dogs there. We love to cuddle with him and are so happy we found him. Here's a link to some pictures we've taken. He has put on a little muscle and his ears and skin are so much better. Please show Judy the pictures and let her know how greatful we are! Thanks! ~ James F.

Keena the Husky
Keena the Husky

Keena (on the left) and Kiva (right) are adjusting to each other, and getting along. Working together to chase the squirrels. She will sit there watching them up in a tree, and I can just tell she is trying to figure out how to get herself up there. Keena is a wonderful dog. She has already gone thru two of the toys that out lasted Kiva & Nanuk. Give her one and about an hour later she has the head pulled off and all the stuffing out. She has two rope monkeys that are pretty tough and she hasn't destroyed them yet (they are built better than the other two). She also has a tennis ball that she likes. Will look to getting her a wading pool this weekend. Been working with her to get her to understand "come", but typical husky, she knows I have a treat with me, she isn't going anywhere far enough that "come" would work. Here is a photo of the "girls". ..Mike

Kody
Kody

Just a quick note to let you know that the trip home was fine, Kody just loved the wind in his face. They finally settled about 15 minutes ago when I made them settle down, they were getting to over heated playing. We are getting the pool tomorrow for Kody, until then I sprayed him down with water~~I did this for my other dogs. I soaked his head and just loved it, tried to lick the water out of the air. He is already settling in very quickly and has made himself at home. I am teaching him to stay out of the very tiny kitchen we have while preparing food, he listened very well--such a good boy. My husband just loves him and can't wait to get him out fishing with him--I of course will be the nervous mom and gave him a list of do's and don'ts. LOL Here is a pic I just took of them together--quiet!!! I will definitely keep in touch and will send tons of pics for you to see how he is doing. Thank you Thank you Nance Kody’s buddy, Ace, is a one year old Collie x Cattle Dog they adopted from the local Humane Society. They hit it off right away!

Kiki Blue Eyes
Kiki Blue Eyes

Kiki is doing great. She is really getting comfortable here and totally becoming a puppy...chewing things and digging holes in the backyard. She has really warmed up to the family. ~ Thanks, Mike

Kim Bassetter
Kim Bassetter

About 6 months ago, I again had the hard job of saying goodbye to my 13 1/2 yr old Basset Hound. She had been such a presence in our home (she was the alpha around the house) that it left a big void. Having Max helped so very much to fill that void. But I guess it's not surprising that about a month ago, when on a trip to Petsmart, we brought home a Bassett Hound that you had for adoption, Kim (I now call her Mollie). I saw her and that was it - I was sold. Molly has joined our little family like she has always been here. She and Max are great company for one another. She is a character, likes to "smile" at the camera. Thank you again for your dedication and for the care and kindness you give to these animals. We often laugh that you must give them some sort of "love pill" because they are all so very affectionate and wonderful!! Our home would be empty without them. Tom and Celia C.
