Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Orela the Boxer/Shephard

Fostered July 2013, adopted October 2013..feel free to share... My wife and I would like to thank you at PRbJ for saving Orela. We met her as a special-needs dog..she had pretty significant mange, and her condition kind of flattened her personality. But we could tell she was a sweet dog who needed a break, so we agreed to foster her. Within a couple of days, her fun-loving personality came out. Within a couple of weeks, the stability of her own home allowed her to start healing. 2+ years later, we're completely in love with her. She's our best friend. We would encourage anyone to take a chance on a dog that needs some extra help. The reward is so great..for them, and for us.. Jason

Orela the Boxer/Shephard

We were so happy to see Orela and her dad at one of our events!

Orela the Boxer/Shephard

In the spring of 2013 my wife and I decided to “get a dog for our dog”. Hope, a blind Catahoula who was also a PRBJ dog, needed a playmate. So, we started fostering Orela . She seemed to have had a tough start, and her mange problem was keeping her adoption interest pretty low. But she quickly formed a really sweet friendship with Hope, and we adopted her on October 5th, 2013. She made Hope’s last year a lot more enjoyable.

Over the years, Orela has become the very best friend that my wife and I have ever had. She moved with us to NC in 2020, and has done some epic hiking and waterfall visits. She’s still up for anything, even as she closes in on 11 years of age…we actually have trouble slowing her down, despite two torn ACLs.

Thank you to Pet Rescue by Judy, for introducing us to such a great dog!
