Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Please visit our Success Stories page to read all of our stories!

Hi Hannah,

We call her "Tuna" now. Long story as to how we came to the name but it sticks. Various versions of Tuna is what she is called each day, "Tuna cake, Tuna melt, Tuna melts my heart, Tuna fish," etc. She responds to it all now.

She is doing great. You were right that she is a good fit for us. We have a new vet for her, Integrative Animal Hospital in Sanford. They recommended all kinds of drugs for her for anxiety and pain upon their first visit but we have never given her one. We found at home she is far from anxious. Very relaxed and happy. She also does not have much trouble with that hind leg so we avoid the pain meds too. We have them if she ever pushes herself too hard but so far so good.

She DOES get a bit of separation anxiety. We don't leave her very often. I think we may have left her 3 times since we adopted her.  Again, it is rare she is left alone. My wife even takes her to pick up/drop off kids.  However, we think she will get better with it.

Kids love her. She loves our lab. Our lab pretty much just ignores her but sometimes plays with her. They both sleep together on our bed at night.

Her leg is really not an issue. She LOVES to run and play and never exhibits that she is in pain in normal aspects of life. We do have a second floor to our house but it is just a rec room. So she joins us up there whenever we go up there. She does seem to have trouble going DOWN the stairs but not up. So, we try to carry her. We also lift her out of the car.

I don't have many great pictures but attaching a few.

Jonathan
