Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Ross

Update on Colby (we adopted him in July 2014) from PRBJ.

We moved from Sanford, and are now living in The Villages where MANY people have and love their pets.
Colby has made lots of new two and four legged friends and is truly loved by all!  He has a very calm demeanor and has a way of settling down even aggressive dogs.  He provides hours of therapy for one of our neighbors who is a cancer patient.  Golf carts are a popular mode of transportation in The Villages, and Colby LOVES to ride in our golf cart, especially to the nearby Dog Park.  As we count our blessings during this Holiday Season, we are grateful for the love and happiness that Colby has brought to us.  Thank you Judy and PRBJ for all you do to make this world a special place!

Rock the Puppy

Rock stopped by to see us at Fiesta in the Park!   So happy to see him and how well he is doing!

Ranger

Colleen,

It has been a little while since I sent an update. Shortly after I brought “Ranger” home I noticed he really didn’t care one way or the other about the name Ranger. He has been going by “Alfie” ever since and it seems to fit his sweet personality better. Would you please make sure your records are updated to show his current name?

Attached are some recent photos of Alfie, including watching out the window with his sister Foxy and playing at the dog park. Weather permitting, we usually go to the dog park 3-4 times a week and he has his favorite playmates for running/chasing and others for play wrestling.

Alfie has enjoyed interacting with the people at the dog park so much, especially children, that I decided to pursue getting him involved in therapy dog activities. Over the last few months we completed a behavior and handling test as well as three observations at a local assisted living facility and nursing home for Alfie and I to become a registered therapy dog/handler team through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Alfie has been really enjoying these activities and loves having people pet and hug him. In another week or two we should receive our final membership approval and then will also be able to participate in our local library’s Read To A Dog program for young children and begin regular visits to local assisted living facilities.
