Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Noodles the Dachshund
Noodles the Dachshund

Hi Amanda, I wanted to send you some pictures.... Everything is going great we changed her name to Boots (looks like she is wearing brown boots)..Her and Pepper have become pals. we could not have found a more perfect fit for our household. Louis

Nadia
Nadia

Here are some pictures of Pumpkin (Nadia). She hid under the bed for the first night but then slowly emerged out. She has since then been part of the gang and runs around with her other two buddies, London and Duncan. She has an appetite like a horse and has started to feel more comfortable around the house. She has been a joy to us. Thank you for helping us realize that here is where she belongs!! ~ Denise F.

Nikki
Nikki

Just thought I would send you guys a couple of pictures and an update on Nikki. Nikki is doing wonderful. We have finally managed to stabilize her spine and I am going back to school (again) for canine chiropractic and acupressure to help keep it that way. She's spoiled rotten and living every dogs dream. Not only does she get to go on long walks (as Rx by her Dr.), she also gets to run around on 15 acres, visit doggy parks and go to work with me. She is in her final stage of training for her AKC Canine Good Citizen award which hopefully we will be testing her for in the coming month and then she will start training to become a working therapy dog. The first picture is her and my rescue horse chilling after a good run. The second is a picture of the "pack" and the third picture is Nikki playing "Queen of the Hill" at the dog park. ~ Jessica Clover, ABCDT National Academy for Dogs

Noah
Noah

My husband Cameron and I adopted Noah, the pit bull mix, in August 2007. I know that Noah was with PRBJ for a while (I think 5 months?), and many people became close to him, so I wanted to let you know how he is doing. I cannot tell you how grateful I am that we found Noah; we already had one dog, who is quite a handful, and I was definitely not looking for another dog at the time... But Noah knew differently! He is the sweetest, cuddliest, happiest dog I've ever met. He and Tucker, our Australian Cattle Dog, have their fair share of sibling rivalry, but they are inseparable. They love each other and us. Noah has put on about 15 pounds (but still very lean and strong! - I think it's all muscle!), and has actually gotten taller, too. He is a joy for everyone who meets him. With a little help from a dog trainer (BarkBusters), Noah has even learned how to show his love without jumping 6 feet in the air! :) I've attached a couple of pictures. I mostly wanted everyone at PBRJ who loves Noah to know that he is a great home, he loves his brother Tucker, and we love Noah SO much! We are actually plan a move to Charlotte, NC in a couple of months and think Noah will enjoy the weather and about half an acre of yard to roam in even more! Thank you for everything; I am truly sorry to hear about all of the challenges you're facing and will keep all of you in my prayers! ~ Sincerely, Kate L.

Noel
Noel

Here's a picture of Kane (Noel) that my fiancé Christa and I adopted last Saturday from the event at the Altamonte Petco. We both thought that the new name was more fitting - he seems to like it too and we're working on "come" when called. So far he's getting pretty good at it - maybe it's the treats. Kane is a very smart little guy, he's also sitting on command already. I think maybe we have his foster family or someone at the rescue to thank for some previous work on that one. He's really settling in here. Sometimes he plays a little rough with our 2 year old basset hound, Rose, but I think he's growing on her. We caught them napping together (see the second picture). Luckily they have a fenced in back yard with access through a doggie door to run around in all day and by the time they're done playing they usually don't have the energy left to do much more than sleep. Kane likes to sleep in his crate, but as you can see from the picture he's not afraid to hop up on the couch either. It looks like we're going to have to focus on properly socializing Kane with other dogs, especially males - on walks to the dog park he wants to let every other dog know how tough he is, even though he's still a baby. We have started this process already by running him with another well behaved adult American Bulldog that belongs to friends, along with Rose of course. We believe that with the right kind of gentle but firm training, exposure to other stable animals, plenty of exercise & lots of love Kane will turn out to be a pretty awesome addition to our family. His first vet appointment is this Saturday and our first official training class will be this Sunday. Thank you for helping us find our new little buddy (I don't think he's going to be little for long with the way that he's been eating) Jason & Christa
