Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Kahlua The Trained Shepherd
Kahlua The Trained Shepherd

Hi Judy! I finally have Kahlua and we are heading home now. She was so excited to see me as I was to see her. Thank you for your assistance. I will be forwarding a success testimonial and photo for the website shortly. Thanks again, Yvette! Leslie

Kilah the Shepard/Lab

I'm sorry for the late reply but both of our dogs are doing wonderfully! Kilah was detached at first but warmed up quickly. I think having Tanner helped! They get along extremely well and love playing together. I'm happy that they both have someone to stay home with all day! Now Kilah enjoys prancing around and teasing Tanner. She loves attention and we love giving it to her! She is the perfect edition to our family! We want to thank you all for everything you have done for us! We have two amazing children because of you! Thanks. Sam

Kiki the Snaggle Toothed Sweet Lady

First night is going so well. Kiki was able to get the full run of the house as Boomer visited the garage for a couple hours. Boomer actually loves checking out the garage and we find him on top of our car laying sprawled out most times. She explored everything, up and down, on window sills, the dining room table, over the piano, nothing phased her she was everywhere and so active checking all the nooks and crannies, walking over Derek's lap a few times and coming to settle on the table by my laptop as I worked on a spreadsheet, she laid down near enough so she could get some scritches. We let Boomer back in an hour ago and he is being all sulky grumbly and hissing from a distance and not going very near her. Kiki just sits and watches him as if he is acting like the strangest cat she ever saw but not antognizing him a bit. Though we had to give her kudo's when she was on top of one of the beds and Boomer was in the doorway grumble/growling and she just laid down on the corner of the bed all sassy like this was going to be her spot. She is adorable and not phased at all by our other cat. Boomer did the same thing when Mango came to us a few days of sulky grumble/growly we expect. Though where Mango was bothered by Boomer's reaction Kiki seems to let it roll off her back and keep exploring or laying about as she pleases. We are so thrilled, other than it raining buckets on her car ride home and probably making her ride a wee bit more stressful with all the noise she seems to be adjusting fine, she used the litter box that she found on her own exploring in the first 30 minutes. All seems well. Have a good night, Lora

Krystal the Australian Shepherd Mix Puppy
Krystal the Australian Shepherd Mix Puppy

This is Philly and Krystal now Bosco and Hannah (the aussie puppies) who were adopted by our neighbors. They are so much fun and love playing with their neighbors Bear the Schipperkee and Delilah (originally Tractor). Would have sent something sooner but it is so hard to get all 4 buddies/Judy successes in one picture!

Kirin the Blue-Eyed Shepherd

Good evening! We ran into Judy today at the Spring Fiesta at Lake Eola and she suggested that we send in an update, so here it is! :) It's now been around 3 years since we adopted Kirin from you all and we have so very much loved every moment. She is just such a sweet and loving dog. So full of character as well. She just loves getting to go out and meet new people and dogs. We also love to travel with her as much as possible and so far she has been from Key West (she loves to try and chase the chickens there) to as far north as Tennessee. Kirin is very well behaved in the car, often just curling up with one of her many toys and napping till we arrive. We take her to Fleet Peebles park now and then, much to her delight. Between running in the water, making new friends, and chasing squirrels, she is in pup heaven. She also occasionally goes to Happy Paws Pet Resort for a day of fun and grooming. We take her on frequent walks down to Lake Eola and to various dog friendly places to eat along the way. She is very much a snuggle puppy, loving to curl up on the sofa next to us. She'll take a break from snuggling to bring us her toys to play fetch with. She really brings so much joy and laughter into our lives. We just love her to bits. Amanda & Kevin (Deputy's story can be found in our Rainbow Bridge section)
