Description:

Lil Dog was found by a wonderful dog lover a couple of years ago. She was cared for but now her mommy can no longer care for her.  She is so sweet and a bit older but were hoping to find her a wonderful home! This is what her owner had to say about her:

My husband found her 2 years ago in our neighborhood in Geneva and she's a great dog. Gets on great with other dogs and cats. Doesn't like to be grabbed by small children.  Is loving and loves to snuggle. Begs for tickles. Not food aggressive and not yappy. She is just a very sweet little old lady that needs someone to love her and care for her last few years. loves to run and play outside but tires after 10 mins. Responds to pee pee when told to go outside. She's a little deaf and has some cloudiness on one eye but healthy overall.

Foster Update:  Little Dog is a very sweet quiet dog. She is completely blind and almost completely deaf. She lays on the couch for the most part of the day and sleeps. She likes to sleep with her blanket. She enjoys being petted and sometimes sit's on her back legs and begs. She is completely potty trained. She is also create trained. She sleeps in bed with me throughout the night. She doesn't wonder throughout the home. I place her in front of her food bowls to eat and when she is done she usually just lays down until you come get her. She takes Mobic for her Arthritis. Little Dog would do best in a home with no small children due to her being blind and deaf. She really needs a home where she can rest and relax so she would probably do best in a home with a couple/single person or elderly couple/person. She is very easy to take care of. She is not demanding at all. She does not nip at all. She allows you to love on her with out being scared. She is a joy to have as part of the family.

Foster Update:  Little Dog continues to be a sweet and loving dog. She sleeps mostly still. She has adjusted to the family well. Does well in the crate while the family is gone to school and work. She eats well. She likes to be petted and brushed. Sleeps in bed with me. Doesn't bark. Is fully potty trained. She loves her morning snack. Stays up on the couch all day long. Likes to bury her food under her blanket. I take her bowl to her sometimes while she sits on the couch. She will also eat in the kitchen. When she is done she will either lay down in the kitchen or face a different direction (usually towards the fridge). Doesn't mind being toted in a large purse. Will stick her head out and enjoy the ride. Doesn't mind being dressed in clothes. She is like a living doll. Would do well with a older couple or family with teenage kids. She is blind and very hard of hearing so would not recommend a family with small kids. She has never nipped.

Foster Update:  Little Dog Continues to be a sweet little girl. She has adjusted well to the family. She sleeps most of the day, only active when she needs to go potty or wants some water. She will become restless on the couch and that is our cue that she needs something. Even though Little Dog is blind and deaf she is happy when we come home. She wags her tail. She begs when she wants you to pet her. She loves to be petted and have her belly rubbed. She sleeps well in bed throughout the night. She is crate trained and does well while the kids are at school and I am at work. She loves her morning snack. She gets along well with my dog.  Doesn't nip or bark. Would do well with a older couple or a family with older kids. Little Dog does well traveling and enjoys going over to Grandma's. She is more alert there taking in all the different smells. Once she is home she is zonked out the rest of the day. Most of her time is spent on the couch sleeping. I only carry away  when she is thirsty or needs to be let out. I feed her on the couch with a small bowl. She doesn't eat much and when she is done she tries to bury her food with imaginary dirt or her blanket.  We carry her everywhere since she can not see.  She doesn't seem interested in roaming around due to her blindness. She feels more secure on the couch next to someone. She is the most simplest dog I have ever cared for.

Lil Dog qualifies for our Seniors for Seniors program.  If adopted by a senior (55+) his adoption fee will be $50.

According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Chihuahua is the oldest breed on the American continent and the smallest breed in the world. Native to Mexico, nonetheless it seems to have been introduced by the Chinese. It was only brought to Europe at the end of the nineteenth century. The Chihuahua is named after the Mexican state of Chihuahua where he was brought to the rest of the world by travelers. This breed is believed to have been sacred to the Pre-Columbian Indian nations. The Chihuahua is a popular, economical companion dog. Courageous, extremely lively, proud and enterprising, it gives and demands affection. Bold and saucy, it moves swiftly to avoid being stepped on. Chihuahua's are strong-willed, intensely loyal and become very attached to their owners, even to the point of jealousy. They like to lick their owner's faces. It is undeniably suspicious of people except for its owner. When strangers are present, it follows its owner's every move, keeping as close as possible. This breed may snap at teasing children, after all it is too tiny to get away. The Chihuahua must resort to his sharp teeth in self defense. It is not recommended for children. He can be noisy and may require patience to housebreak. Many owners simply paper train this breed. The Chihuahua hates the cold and may shiver, although this may be due to high metabolism as much as temperature or anxiety. It will tolerate and even appreciate a warm sweater on cooler days. They are good little dogs for apartment life. Although it is tempting to carry these dainty creatures about, they will keep fitter if taken for walks. A body harness is safer than a collar. Don't think that just because he is small he should be confined to a small space. Chihuahuas have a life expectancy of 15 or more years.
