Description:

Casper is a beautiful mix breed dog... We're not sure about his breed but he is beautiful! I call him Casper the friendly Ghost because he is so White!  He is looking for a wonderful forever home!

Foster Update 4/20: Our entire family is enjoying Casper. He continues to be a perfect pet! He has become a perfect playmate for both of our other dogs. Here are a few new details:

*  He eats dry food morning and night. We are trying to put a pound or two on him, so this may not be his routine forever, but he does seem to be hungry twice a day.

*He is not food aggressive. He likes to chew on rawhide bones, but he will let me take it out of his mouth when it is time to put it away.

* He loves to romp around with our two other dogs, but once the playtime is over, he is ready to relax at your feet. He will go for a long walk (about 2 miles), and doesn’t seem to get too tired.

* He is friendly with people, but he doesn’t jump up on them.

* He doesn’t growl at unfamiliar dogs or cats when we go for a walk.

* He is great on a leash, and is learning the commands sit, stay and wait.-

* He is crate trained and house trained. He never chews anything or jump on the furniture.

* What sets Casper apart from other dogs is his easy going personality. I don’t think you can make Casper mad. He just rolls with the flow with a huge smile on his face all the time.

* I can see Casper fitting into any home: one with other pets, or one with him as the only pet. I think he would make a great companion for young children or adults. Literally, he seems to adapt and be happy in any situation.

* He takes baths well, and his coat stays shiny and soft for the whole week between shampoos. He doesn't even get that “doggy smell!”

* Casper is just HAPPY. He makes everyone around him happy, too.

Foster Update:  Casper is the friendliest dog ever!  He loves hanging out with people and other dogs.  He is always, always polite and well behaved.  He follows us around the house and sits down beside us.  He loves getting a pet, and will give kisses readily.  He is getting along great with our other two dogs.  He is submissive to other dogs, so he becomes a perfect playmate for everyone.  He is ready to play at a moments notice, and gets as excited as a puppy when he has a new toy.

He is crate trained, and never has accidents in the house.  He eats well, but is not overly obsessed with food.  He has a cute bark, and only uses it when he is ready to come back inside the house - he will bark, and then just sit at the door and wait for someone to open it - how cool is that?  He is quite at night, and will get up when you do.  The absolute best thing about Casper is that he always has a smile on his face!  This dog is always happy!

He only needs to be told once what the boundaries are.  For instance, we don't let dogs on our furniture.  He tried once, and we gently told him not to, and he never even tried it again!  He will make someone a wonderful companion.  If you are looking for a little bit of happiness all wrapped up in white fur, Casper is your dog!

Casper's right rear leg is a tiny bit shorter than it should be -- we're told that it's due to an old break that was never set properly, so it didn't heal correctly.  It doesn't cause Casper any pain and from what we're told, should not affect his quality of life at all except for the possibility of arthritis in the future.

*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
