Nora was found with her buddy Nick in Audubon Park in Orlando. A very nice guy took them home and tried his best to find their owner to no avail! Nora and Nick are now here at the rescue and would love to go to another home together! Nora is housebroken, likes other dogs and even cats. She is a happy girl that knows some tricks and loves toys.
Foster Update: If you want a laid back, easy going, relaxed, quiet dog, Nora is the girl for you! She is a low maintenance dog who is very sweet and affectionate- reminds me of a teddy bear! She is housetrained, cratetrained, and great on the leash. She gets along well with other dogs and kids. Nora is very well-mannered! She listens, responds and does not jump up on people and has no aggression issues whatsoever. She loves to go for walks and get her belly scratched. She just seems to be so appreciative for everything she gets. We took her to the dog park this morning and she did great - loved it! Then she had a bath and was not very excited about it but stood still and took it like a good girl. I think she would be great in just about any kind of home.
Foster Update: Nora is a sweet, sweet dog. She loves people and kids. She has never been a problem inside. She has never had an accident, or chewed anything up. When she is inside, she will be as lazy as you allow her to be. She loves to be outside though, a fenced backyard is perfect! She goes nuts! She is not aggressive in anyway with children. My son is 11 and when we are home, there are usually more kids here, and that is when she is happiest. I tried training classes with her, and the trainer had said she should be a therapy dog at children's hospitals, she has that temperament. Very calm, very patient. I took her to Houston for a family vacation, and there were little ones, about a year old, and they pulled on her ears climbed all over her and she just laid there smiling. She is a large dog, and I have been hesitate to let her get close to other dogs, I am unsure how she will be. When we walk around there are dogs all over out neighborhood, she ignores most, occasionally she will bark and pull if a large one walks by, or if they are being aggressive towards us. She loves tennis balls, those are her favorite toys. She loves peanut butter bones. I have to buy two at a time, the first one she eats the first night, then the next one she holds on to for about 2 months, just hiding it throughout.
Like many dogs in the south, Nora is heartworm positive, but don't let that stop you adding her to your family. We treat heartworms with a monthly dosage of heartworm preventative which is much less stresful on the dog.
