Description:
Hi, my name is 'Cheeks' because I have the biggest cheeks and just love to have them rubbed! You are probably wondering how I got here...well I was left behind when my owners moved out of my neighborhood a couple years ago and I was living on the street. I became pretty friendly with all the people in the neighborhood because I am just so cute and friendly. I don't like to fight, scratch or bite so the other cats and raccoons in the neighborhood would pick on me. A few weeks ago something attacked me and my back leg was injured and I couldn't walk very well. When my foster mom found me she took me to her vet. They did all kinds of things to me at the vet, blood work, neutered and vaccinated me, got rid of all my fleas, took care of my leg (they took pictures of it too!) and even gave me a bath! While at the vet I also learned that I have something called 'FIV'. Don't worry though, all I need is to be kept indoors and have lots of love and food so I can stay really healthy. I do need to warn you though, I love to eat and have a really great appetite. My foster mom loves when I greet her with my great big 'Meow'. I am very well behaved and am fully litter box trained. I am going to make a great forever pet, not just because I am so sweet but also because I don't really like to climb and am very laid back and relaxed. I would love a home that doesn't have other dogs (I am a little bit afraid of them). I love to play with all my toys my foster mom has brought for me, but even more, I love to be rubbed and massaged. I am a really sweet boy with a lot of love to give and would love to be your forever pet.

Update:

Cheeks is doing great! I have had him for over a month and he is very friendly, playful, and loving. His leg has completely recovered, however he still walks with a bit of a limp, but that doesn't stop him from playing.
Cheeks is a very gentle, calm and laid back cat. He would do very well with someone inexperienced or an elderly individual looking for company. I have grown very attached to Cheeks and would keep him but my husband is allergic to cats. The best I can do for him right now is give him as much love and comfort as possible until I can find him a forever home. If you have any questions about Cheeks please do not hesitate to call me or e-mail.

1/12/2007 Update: "Flutternutter & Cheeks are doing really well. They are both as healthy as can be (I still can't believe they are FIV positive!!), playful, very loveable, and are the best of friends. Flutternutter has grown into a great big adult cat (18 lbs!!). He has the biggest paws I have ever seen on a cat and looks like a little lion. He is the most beautiful cat and his fur is incredible. Their personalities are so sweet considering what they have been through. I think this amazes me more than anything.
Flutternutter and Cheeks have everything they need and more which all goes along with them (tons of toys, cat condos, litter boxes, food, litter,
window perches....you name it, they have it). The ideal would be for them
to be together, but I realize this may not be possible. Since Cheeks is older he is very laid back, doesn't play much and love to just sit in the window. Fluternutter, being much younger than Cheeks, loves to play and chase things and has a lot more energy.
Flutternutter is not shy at all and loves attention. Neither of them are high maintenance. I was worried about Flutternutter because of his fluffy coat, but amazingly it is really silky and soft and he takes care of his own grooming. He really doesn't like to be brushed."
