Description:
Meet Takis - The Mischievious Merle Pup

Takis is a cute little Merle French Bulldog puppy with two littermate. She was born safely in a loving foster home after her mom was surrendered to PRBJ just 5 days before going into labor.  She was the smallest of the 3 puppies and was determined to not let her 2 big brothers push her around.  She is the first to investigate things and the first to run when they get caught. She is more independant and can be a bit of a bully.  She has only been around other adult Frenchies and cats.  She is curious about the cats but does listen when she is told to leave them.

Quick Facts

  • Breed: French Bulldog (light merle)
  • Good with: other Frenchies, cats
  • Temperament: outgoing, playful
  • Adopter: must have French Bulldog or brachycephalic breed experience

Special Care for French Bulldogs & Other Brachycephalic Breeds

French Bulldogs are wonderful companions, but they do come with unique care needs. Utz will thrive in a home that understands how to keep these lovable, short-nosed dogs healthy and safe.

   Important Care Notes

  •  Heat & Exercise: Frenchies tolerate heat poorly. Keep play sessions short and indoors during hot weather. Always provide shade, fresh water, and air conditioning when needed.
  • Breathing: Monitor for noisy or labored breathing, and schedule regular vet visits to ensure clear airways.
  • No Jumping or Stairs: Discourage jumping on/off furniture and frequent stair use — this helps protect their spine and joints. Use ramps or lift them when needed.
  • Weight Management: Maintaining a healthy weight is essential to protect their breathing and joints. Avoid overfeeding or excessive treats.
  • Skin Folds & Face Care: Clean and dry facial folds regularly to prevent irritation or infection. Watch for redness, odor, or discharge.
  • Ears: Check and clean ears routinely (per your vet’s advice) — Frenchies are prone to ear infections due to skin folds and moisture.
  • Skin & Allergies: Sensitive skin is common. Medicated baths, topical treatments, or special diets may be needed if allergies develop.
  • Dental Care: Brush teeth regularly and plan for professional dental cleanings — small breeds often need extra attention to oral health.
  • Grooming: Low-shedding, but regular nail trims and baths are needed. Utz enjoys bath time — that’s a plus!
  • Vet Care: Always use a veterinarian familiar with brachycephalic breeds, especially for anesthesia or sedation.
  • Training & Socialization: Continue gentle, positive-reinforcement training. Utz is already social with dogs and cats — he’s off to a great start!

Adoption Requirements for Takis

  •   French Bulldog or brachycephalic breed experience is required
  • Commitment to breed-specific care and regular veterinary oversight
  • Willingness to manage grooming, skin/ear care, and respiratory safety
  • Home setup that limits jumping and includes ramps or supervised access to furniture
  • A loving, patient family ready to continue his training and socialization

Important Information for New Puppy Parents

Welcoming a new puppy into your home is an exciting and rewarding experience—but it also comes with important responsibilities. To help your puppy grow into a happy, confident, and well-adjusted adult dog,   dedication to obedience training, socialization, and consistent potty training is essential  .

We   strongly recommend that the   entire family    participates in puppy training classes  . This not only helps build a strong bond with your new pup but also ensures that everyone is using the   same commands and techniques  , creating a clear and consistent environment for learning.

**Puppies thrive with structure, patience, and positive reinforcement—and so do their families!   Let’s set them up for a lifetime of love and success
