Description:
MEET RUFFLES

Ruffles is an adorable, compact Frenchie with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She was lovingly surrendered when her family’s circumstances changed and they could no longer give her the consistency she deserves. In foster, Ruffles has proven to be sweet, loving, and smart—she connects quickly with “her people” and is eager to please.

  Personality

  •  Cuddly and people-focused—she loves being by your side.
  • Confident and curious; enjoys exploring and sniffy walks.
  • Smart cookie—learns routines quickly and is motivated by praise and treats.

  Other Pets

  •  Dogs: Ruffles is reactive on leash (barks/pulls when she sees other dogs). She does seem to not really like larger dogs.
  • She seems to be more excited over other Frenchies
  • Cats: In foster with dog-savvy cats who don’t run—she did great and left them alone. If your cats are confident and used to dogs, that’s a plus.

 Breed-Specific Care

French Bulldogs are a brachycephalic breed, which means they have shorter muzzles and can be prone to breathing difficulties. This requires some special care:

  • Exercise: They tire easily and should not be over-exercised, especially in hot or humid weather.
  • Heat Sensitivity: Frenchies do not tolerate heat well. Air conditioning and climate control are a must for their comfort and safety.
  • Vet Care: Their breed can be prone to allergies, skin issues, and certain structural health challenges. Regular checkups are essential.
  • Lifestyle: Ruffles will thrive in a home where her people understand the quirks and needs of her breed.

Because of these needs, we are seeking adopters with prior French Bulldog or brachycephalic breed experience to ensure she receives the proper care she deserves.

  What She’s Working On

  •  Leash manners: She’s strong on a leash. A front-clip harness and short, positive training sessions are helping. She will need someone steady on their feet
  • Dog reactivity: With consistency, counterconditioning (treats for calm looks at dogs), and distance management, she can make real progress.

 Ideal Home

  •  Humans with Frenchie/brachycephalic experience who can meet her unique needs.
  •  A home with another Frenchie to play with since she loves her fellow Frenchies and would need a dog her size and sturdiness to handle her rough and tumble playfulness.
  • Cat-friendly homes are fine, especially with confident, dog-experienced cats.
  • Older children who can help keep her safe and follow her training rules.
