Description: Gucci is a sweetheart who just wants someone to play with. According to her former owners, "she has been in a cage too long." They say that she is great with kids and other animals, is sweet, loving and playful. Read the comments from her foster mom: "I have been fostering Gucci since May 25, and I have found her to be an incredibly sweet girl. She follows me everywhere I go around the house, enjoys her naps and loves to play with her toys. She knows how to sit, lay down, shake and roll over. I think she would be a perfect addition to a single female (or couple) with a quiet home. She really needs someone who can provide her with stability and whom she can trust not to abandon her. She just wants to be loved."
Here is another update from a different foster: "Gucci is the best dog. I just love her. She is so gentle and she loves other dogs. She wants to play with them but my Schnauzers are a little afraid of her because of her size butthey do try to catch her when they are running outside. She does not touch anything in the house when I am working so she really does not need to be crated at all! She is housebroken. She lets me clean her eyes. She just wants to be loved. She tolerates my problem schnauzer-Teddy who is always stalking her but Gucci just ignores him."
Will you be the one to give her the forever home she deserves?
***According to dogbreedinfo.com, in April 1899, Capt. Max von Stephanitz registered a dog named Horan as the first Deutsche SchàƒÂ¤ferhunde, which means German Shepherd Dog in English. Known for their tremendous loyalty and courage, they are calmly confident, but not hostile. This breed needs his people and should not be left isolated for long periods of time. They only bark when it is necessary.
Serious and almost human in his intelligence, they have a high learning ability. The breed is so intelligent and learns so readily that it has been used as a sheepdog, guard dog, in police work, as a guide for the blind, in search and rescue service, and in the military. The German Shepherd also excels in many other dog activities including schutzhund, tracking, obedience, agility, flyball, and ring sport. His fine nose can sniff out drugs and intruders, and can alert handlers to the presence of underground mines in time to avoid detonation, or gas leaks in a pipes buried 15 feet underground.
A quick daily brushing is best unless hair in the house is not a problem. They should be bathed rarely, only once or twice a year to avoid skin oil depletion. Shepherds have a life expectancy around 13 years.
