Description:Kendall was found as a stray and brough to PRBJ. He's a great dog who likes other dogs and is housebroken.
Foster Update 02/10/10: We have been fostering Kendall for about 10 days now and she has really settled into our home. She is a very sweet and loving dog that wants nothing more than love and attention. She enjoys a good long walk and will make an excellent exercise partner for anyone looking for a good excuse to get outside. Kendall is working on her on-leash walking and is beginning to become more responsive to our commands. Kendall is just under one year old and still has some puppy left in her, which is evident by her love of play and excitability. However, despite her high energy during walks and play, Kendall knows how to relax and loves to snuggle up on the couch or at your feet while you work or relax. Kendall has been great with all the people and dogs that we have introduced her to and has never displayed any signs of fear or aggression (although her rough puppy play can be a bit much for smaller dogs). She is also very motivated by play and small treats, which makes Kendall very responsive to training sessions.
Foster Update 01/10/10: Kendall is a sweet, fun and intelligent brindle girl. She is housebroken, sits on command, responds to the "come" command, is working on "down" and "stay" and is learning not to pull on leash. She gets along great with my big dog, and teases my little ones like puppies do. Kendall and my big dog are constant companions and enjoy sharing a couch or our laps while napping. She can be a bit possessive with her food with my small dogs around, but shares with my big dog and has no problems with her humans while eating. She is extremely friendly and loves my kids and their friends. Kendall is crate trained and rides well in the car. She is still a puppy, so she still needs some supervision until she learns the "do's" and "don'ts" and toys and chew bones are a must! Of course hugs and kisses too, she loves them! She has a very easy going temperament and I think would do well in any loving environment.
*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
