Poor Annie was found alone in an abandoned house. She was skinny and covered in lumps and bumps. We took her to our vet right away and had all of the lumps removed. After some testing, the results came back that they were cancerous. Luckily for Annie, they have all been removed, but we have been told that at some point in her life it COULD come back. Not that it will, but that it could.
Annie is a sweet and gentle dog. Her foster parents describe her as "the perfect angel". Since she is older, she really just likes to nap and cuddle all day long. Annie would be happy as the only dog in the home or with another submissive senior dog who won't bother her.
Annie is Heartworm Positive but please do not let this deter you from adopting this wonderful dog. PRBJ uses the slow kill method to treat heartworms and this has been extremely effective for us. We give the affected dog a strong antibiotic for 30 days (if you adopt within those 30 days we will provide you with the medicine). After those 30 days, Annie just needs her regular monthly heartworm preventative. This method takes about 12-18 months to be fully effective but it does not harm the animals in any way.
