Dog 4 a Day Update 1-20-18 :

On Saturday, January 20th, I took Jaelyn out for Dog 4 a Day.  Attached are a few pictures.  Here was my experience with her:

“Sweetest. Dog. Ever.  I don’t think I’ve met a dog as sweet as Jaelyn.  When I arrived at PRBJ and met Jaelyn, she immediately jumped in my lap and wanted to cuddle.  I took her to a park about 20 minutes away.  She rode great in the car.  She curled up in the back seat and never made a sound.  She walked well on a leash and only pulled a little when she smelled something interesting.  We walked for about a mile.  She was friendly with everyone we met.  At times I picked the pace up and jogged and she seemed to easily go at whatever speed I wanted.  However, she is definitely not a hyper dog.  She seemed happiest when she could crawl into my lap and get some attention.  If you are looking for an easy going, loving dog, then Jaelyn may be perfect for you.”

This was my first experience with Dog 4 a Day.  I think the program is great and appreciate everything you are trying to do to find these animals forever homes.

Foster update 12-14-17:

Jaelyn has been a great foster dog to have. She is very content to be laying on your lap while you are watching tv. She also loves to be outside chasing the ball.  She has plenty of energy to get out. She loves nightly walks. She loves my 13 year old daughter. My roommate has a 10 month old and Jaelyn will walk up and lick him and that is about all she cares to do.  Jaelyn loves to be the center of attention. If I'm hugging my daughter she wants to be in on the hug as well. She thinks she is a lap dog. So she will be on your lap while sitting on your sofa. While in bed she loves to cuddle up to you. At night she has her bed at the bottom of ours and sleeps there. Some nights she does sneek in bed with us and she likes to take up the whole bed. We have to tell her your bed and after a few times she will go lay on her bed. She knows basic commands. She knows sit, down, stay and shake. Also while playing with her ball you must tell her sit than release a few times and she will drop the ball. She has no problem with the sound of small power tools (scroll or skill saw). She does not like and is afraid of longer objects like a broom handle or 2x4 pieces of wood. Her favorite snack we found is cow ears and Milkbone plain flavor bones.

Dog 4 a Day Update 8.26.17:

So we did dog for a day with Jaelyn .  She is the sweetest dog.  When she wags her tail, her entire back half wags.  She made herself right at home and was so loving.  When I gave her scratches, she would push her entire body into my leg.  She loves to cuddle on the couch and sit right up next to you.

She has no problems with car rides.  We live about 30 min from Pet Rescue by Judy, and she had no problems coming or going.  She just curled up into a little ball in the back seat.

We ended up going for about a mile long walk to a local restaurant that has a dog friendly porch.  She was great on a leash, only pulled a little when she saw something interesting like a squirrel.  For the most part though, she walked on my left side with slack on the leash.  When we got to the restaurant for lunch she just laid under the table at our feet.  I tied her to the chair and she was just a perfect behaved angel. She didn't even beg for our food. She does know "sit" and I think she would be easily trained.  After the mile long walk back I think she was pretty tired.  We all ended up hanging out on the couch together and falling asleep.  She's a good napper.

There were a couple times where we'd go to throw a toy or make a sudden movement and she would cower.  It made me wonder if maybe she comes from a not so nice household.  We made sure to give her lots of love and scratches.

I really hope Jaelyn gets adopted!! She is very deserving.

Jaelyn was found running across 1792.  Luckily she was safe getting across.   One of our volunteers saw her and knew she needed assistance.   Our kennel worker went outside to get her and poor Jaelyn was in bad shape.  Very skinny, fleas, gum stuck to her back legs and starving, she also had a litter of babies.   We gave her a nice bath, flea med, fed her and she is now showing her true colors.   She seems to enjoy being with people and running around the lobby, she does not like cats and appears fine with other dogs.  We will continue to evaluate her.   She will make a magnificent pet to a very lucky family.  Jaelyn is heartworm positive but we have started on the slow kill method.  Information on this success treatment will be provided at time of adoption or fostering.   At Pet Rescue by Judy we only use this method and it has been proven very very successful.
