Dog Adoption App 2018
PRBJ is committed to re-homing and re-habilitating rescues into furever homes.  As such, we do limit adoptions to the Central Florida area.   Should adoption not be right for your life at this time due to your living situation,  financial restrictions, breed restrictions, etc., you may wish to look into our Dog 4 a Day program.

ADOPTION/DONATION FEE:
All Pet Rescue By Judy animals are spayed/neutered prior to adoption, micro chipped and up-to-date on the vaccines applicable to their date of intake with PRBJ and respective to their weight and/or age at the time of adoption.

Pet Rescue By Judy is a non-profit, no-kill organization. The PRBJ adoption-donation fee collected is used to cover total cost of medical care, food, deworming, etc. of all pets at PRBJ.  As we have a variety of animals in our care with a wide range of medical needs, all donations collected are utilized towards all expenses within the rescue.

The goal of PRBJ is not just to place every animal into a home, but it is to place each animal into the RIGHT home, seeking that forever home, to avoid future transition and negative impact on the life of each of these deserving animals.

THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING OPENING YOUR HEART AND YOUR HOME TO A RESCUED PET

The online application completes the basic screenings of home ownership, landlord approval/home stability, and verification of current pet vaccinations- which are all needed before families can visit with our rescues and adopt~

The questions asked by a PRBJ team member (as well as any suggestions given) are intended to best direct families towards a companion suited for their home and family.

Note that each rescue’s web-page has information listed on their personality, required home environment, and any care and needs: medical, training, activity, socialization, etc. as to best help families choose the right companion for their lifestyle.

Before you complete the adoption application, please consider the following:

  • Do you have other animals or kids to associate with a new dog? some rescues do not get along well with other dogs, cats, kids☹
  • How many hours will a new companion be left alone? some rescues need to be with their people for most of the day.
  • What activities will a new companion get each day to burn off energy? some canines need a very active home, while others are more couch potatoes.
  • Do you have any breed/weight restrictions in your community/HOA/insurance to consider? PRBJ will abide by these restrictions.
  • PRBJ requires families to return pets to our adoption center if they are unable to keep them for any reason.
  • As we strive to curtail more unwanted animals, we do require all current pets to be up to date on vaccinations, on HW preventative, and be spay/neutered. We will call your vet office to verify records of current dogs and cats in the home.
  • Some seniors- pets and humans- do not want a new addition into their routine and home.
  • We encourage you to look for a rescue who matches your physical strength, time and energy to handle a new companion. Please remember, canine ownership means 10-20 years of ownership: care, transportation to the vet, groomer, etc.
  • How much time you are home and able to devote to nurture, train, and socialize a new dog or puppy?
  • A new puppy with young kids: Often a puppy's sharp teeth and energy often overwhelms a small child~ Have your children been around puppies/dogs before?

If, at this time, you find that you are unable to dedicate the time, exercise, or commitment to owning a dog/pup, please consider our Dog4Day program.  It is a wonderful opportunity to take a dog out of the shelter for the day. You can go to the local dog beach, walk downtown, walk a nature trail, jog a mile, etc. Fill out a Dog4Day application and the staff will help you coordinate taking a dog/pup out for the day. The canines thank you:)
