Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Kohl the MinPin
Kohl the MinPin

Hello Kaily, You took all my annoying phone calls and delivered my new beloved pet to me. Kohl, now named Prancer b/c he prances like a drasage (sic) horse is doing marvelous. He is as much in love with us as we are with him. He is on science diet food with boiled chicken and broth. He loves it. We feed him twice a day. He has been neutered and we have fully adopted him. He will have heart worm treatment with Dr. Vaughn in December. IN the meantime Judy gave me another Iverheart to give him on December 1. He loves to walk and run. I sometimes take him on my bike. I cannot keep up with him. The original paperwork we received from Judy on adoption said he had Dachsund in him. I don't think so. I think it is Italian Greyhound b/c he is faster than a speeding bullet. He still loves his kennel but also enjoys sleeping under the covers with us sometimes. We leave the kennel door open so he can go in there any time he wants. He is hilarious with his blankets. I do have some photos but I don't know how to email them to you. Maybe you could call me and walk me through it. His mange is non-existent. I brush him every day with a soft brush to release the few dead folicals in his coat. He has some permanent scarring where the hair will probably never grow back short of a miracle, but all in all he is gorgeous. Shows all the love you put into him while you were fostering. He is learning his manners very well. Now sits before bisquit. Knows easy. Loves Dakota and the children. The only real problem is not his, it is ours. His legs and feet are very very sensitive. We have to be hypervigilant not to accidently step on him or let him get under our feet. We work on that daily. He spends every evening in front of me on my foot stool curled up in a ball. When bedtime comes he chooses whether to sleep in his open kennel or climb in bed with us. I can't believe the pound almost euthanized him. Thank God for the woman who knew he would make a great pet and called Judy. Thank you for being his foster mom. I know our Jeffy picked him out special for us. I will never forget you and Pet Rescue by Judy. I told her I will call and set up some volunteer time for myself at the center. Carolyn
