Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Mystique
Mystique

"Mystique" (the black cat) came into our home as a foster cat. Our resident 4-year-old Maine Coon mix, Fletch (the orange cat), had just completed hip surgery and though I was nervous about bringing another cat in, I knew Mystique needed a home to hang out in for a while. I brought him home about three weeks after Fletch's surgery and these two bonded. For a few months, Fletch laid low and these two enjoyed sniffing each other. Right off the bat, we could tell Mystique was "Mr. Personality" and we adopted him and changed his name to Oliver "Ollie" Mystique. As Fletch gained strength in his hips, he got more playful and the two boys began to gently wrestle each other a few times a day. Fletch wrestles from the ground position since he has weak hips, and Ollie jumps around him from side to side. Shortly thereafter, they began napping together which just about brought tears to my eyes! Now, they even groom each other. The funniest thing is when Fletch wraps his big orange paw around Ollie's neck and licks his head and ears. Ollie eats it up, patiently allowing Fletch to care for him. We are so happy that we opened our home and our hearts to little Ollie. We truly enjoy watching the interaction between these cats--at the end of a long work day, they give us so many laughs and enrich our lives. ~ Sheri and Tom
