Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Noel
Noel

Here's a picture of Kane (Noel) that my fiancé Christa and I adopted last Saturday from the event at the Altamonte Petco. We both thought that the new name was more fitting - he seems to like it too and we're working on "come" when called. So far he's getting pretty good at it - maybe it's the treats. Kane is a very smart little guy, he's also sitting on command already. I think maybe we have his foster family or someone at the rescue to thank for some previous work on that one. He's really settling in here. Sometimes he plays a little rough with our 2 year old basset hound, Rose, but I think he's growing on her. We caught them napping together (see the second picture). Luckily they have a fenced in back yard with access through a doggie door to run around in all day and by the time they're done playing they usually don't have the energy left to do much more than sleep. Kane likes to sleep in his crate, but as you can see from the picture he's not afraid to hop up on the couch either. It looks like we're going to have to focus on properly socializing Kane with other dogs, especially males - on walks to the dog park he wants to let every other dog know how tough he is, even though he's still a baby. We have started this process already by running him with another well behaved adult American Bulldog that belongs to friends, along with Rose of course. We believe that with the right kind of gentle but firm training, exposure to other stable animals, plenty of exercise & lots of love Kane will turn out to be a pretty awesome addition to our family. His first vet appointment is this Saturday and our first official training class will be this Sunday. Thank you for helping us find our new little buddy (I don't think he's going to be little for long with the way that he's been eating) Jason & Christa
