Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Max
Max

1 1/2 years ago now, we came in on a Saturday to find a very pitiful looking German Shepard up for adoption. He was underweight, had been shaved making his head look too large for his body.We found out later he also had heartworm - but his kind gentle eyes spoke volumes to us. That first weekend, we walked away from the sad face, but when he was still there the next Saturday, we couldn't walk away again. We brought Colorado ( now we call him Max) home in November of 2005. He weighted only 72 lbs and was in need of special care due to his heartworm. We continued his treatments and after many trips to the vet ( many thanks to the wonderful job of the vets at Tuscawilla Oaks) I am happy to say that he is now in great health! His hair has grown in and he is now 102 lbs of furry love! About 6 months ago, I again had the hard job of saying goodbye to my 13 1/2 yr old Basset Hound. She had been such a presence in our home (she was the alpha around the house) that it left a big void. Having Max helped so very much to fill that void. But I guess it's not surprising that about a month ago, when on a trip to Petsmart, we brought home a Bassett Hound that you had for adoption, Kim (I now call her Mollie). I saw her and that was it - I was sold. Molly has joined our little family like she has always been here. She and Max are great company for one another . She is a character, likes to "smile" at the camera. Thank you again for your dedication and for the care and kindness you give to these animals. We often laugh that you must give them some sort of "love pill" because they are all so very affectionate and wonderful!! Our home would be empty without them. Tom and Celia C.
