Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Mookie the Lab Puppy

Mookie (now Riley) Harper - Here is an updated photo from Christmas of our little family.

Boo Boo the Lab

I feel like such a proud mom being able to give an update on Asher (formerly Boo Boo). We were actually looking for a dog a little smaller than he is, but when we met him, we knew he was the perfect match for our family. In the three months that we have had him, he has learned so much and become such a wonderful member of our family. He went through, and passed with flying colors, a beginning training class right away. Since then, we have been challenging him every day by "upping" his training and he continues to improve and improve. Asher, in our opinion, is the best-behaved dog in the neighborhood as he walks on a lose leash right by our side and remains calm even when other dogs are barking at him or even charging him! We hear things like "I wish my dog was that well behaved" from other dog owners all the time. We have a cat that is skittish, and Asher has done really well with her (and to bring a 70lb dog into this house was something we weren't sure how she would be able to handle). He chases her occasionally wanting to play (she doesn't quite get the memo though!), and has even tried to heard her, but the best part is that she isn't afraid of him. She doesn't hide under the bed or avoid being in the same room with him and will often sleep within 1-2 feet of him. This speaks volumes to his energy toward her, and has been another one of Asher's blessings in this family. Asher gets lots of structure, 4-5 walks a day and even a daily bike ride—which I can't recommend highly enough! We keep each other moving—I have some health issues that put me in a lot of pain and fatigue and going on these daily walks and bike rides with him have been really beneficial for me too. I could go on and on about how wonderful he is, but I'll save some for our next update! Ash is beautiful, adorable, affectionate and increasingly well-behaved, and we just look forward to a long and wonderful future with him as part of our family.

Bernie the Boxer Puppy

Hi Susan, I just wanted to give you an update on Bernie. He has been renamed - Buddy! Buddy has adjusted very well to his new home. It seems like he has always been a part of our family. Our vet believes he is only about 10 months old and is very much a puppy. He is very playful, but very well behaved most of the time. He can be quite mischievous when he wants attention. He will run off with a shoe or some item belonging to the person he wants attention from. He has already gained 5 pounds in the last month and our vet believes he will get to 75 pounds! He loves the fenced in yard and loves to play chase with the whole family. He follows us every where we go in the house. He just loves being with us. Our 6 year old loves her new Buddy so much and he just loves her. He has made friends with other dogs in the neighborhood too. He just has a great personality. We were so lucky to find him!! I have attached some photos. Thank you to Pilots for Paws and everyone at PRBJ for saving this wonderful dog's life. He has changed our lives in so many ways in just a short time. We can't imagine not having him in our lives! Susan, Steve and Allison Bell

Candy the Tortie
Candy the Tortie

hi everyone at Petrescue By Judy. We adopted Candy the torti, now called Moo Moo, back on July 17, 2004. She has grown up to be a pretty large cat, shes bigger then our lhasa apso! When we first saw her she was hiding all the way in the back of her cage in the litterbox, and was very grumpy. But after holding her for a couple minutes, she fell asleep in my arms, and i knew we had to take her home AND IM GLAD WE DID. Our dog Fluffy loves her and they are inseperable! We love her and she was a great addition to the family. Thankyou so much. ~Martina

Jackie the Shepherd Puppy
Jackie the Shepherd Puppy

I wanted to let everyone know how Jackie (now Lilie) is doing. From day one Lilie fit right into our home. Our Chihuahua Rosie loves her and they are fast becoming life long friends. We are finding that she is really smart. Her first day in her new home she took over one of Rosie's small beds in our living room and proceeded to drag it into the kitchen by one of our other dog beds (I guess she really wanted to be by Rosie). As you can see in some of the pictures she got comfortable here really fast. From the first day she seemed to be housetrained, could sit and shake. Lilie is my son Alex's dog and so he has now trained her to lie down and other fun tricks. We decided to put her in a obedience class with other puppies and she is a star so we entered her in the "Puppy Star Program" which will earn her alot of awards from AKC. Because of her ability to do about anything we think she will excel in these classes so we plan to continue to have her take the other classes they offer teaching agility and tricks. Alex homeschools so, as you said, it has become a great learning opportunity for him also. Lilie has become a great addition to this family and we love her very much. She loves to see Grandma and Grandpa, loves to go for walks, and play with her stuffed animals. Thank you so much for having such a great organization. I don't believe we would have found such a wonderful dog had it not been for you. I check the web site every day to see what other dogs have gotten adopted hoping Lilie's mom Jennifer will be next. God Bless! Rachel D.
