Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Winnie the Golden Retriever
Winnie the Golden Retriever

Hello, I wanted to share with you the success of Winnie the Golden Retriever we adopted on November 14, 2009. We did change her name to Haleakala (a volcano on Maui) and we call her Halea. She has adjusted extremely well to our home and loves our other golden retriever Jack. Yesterday, Halea completed phase I of her training school and was given her certificate of completion! She will begin phase II of training later this month. She knew not even how to sit when we got her home and now my 5 year old niece who was over last night was giving her commands and she was listening. Halea has brought much joy to our house and we can't imagine someone giving this dog up. She is very strong willed and smart and learns so quickly. My husband and I truly feel it was fate to get this dog. She came to us heartworm positive and our vet treated her within the first few weeks. He was rather kind to us and he knew we adopted her knowing she was heartworm positive so he made it very affordable to treat her. She will get follow up tests in a few months. Thank you for choosing us to give Halea a new forever home! We truly had a Golden Holiday in our house! Sincerely, Jennifer & Derek DiPasquale ps..in the picture Halea is on the right!

Wallabee the Puppy
Wallabee the Puppy

I just wanted to thank you so much for finding me a good home. I have lots of people and dogs to play with. I have one brother and two sisters of the dog variety. We're all pretty nondescript, so we fit well together. My mom calls us the Mutley Crew. My mom changed my name from Wallabee to Wally. As I get older, I look more like I have a pit bull in me so mom has started calling me Walter Pitts. I have one sister and two brothers of the human variety and a home full of kids all the time that play with me. I love my home. I have a fenced in yard to play in and even a pool that I've been in a couple times. I'm not too crazy about it, but my mom wanted to make sure I could swim. I'm so happy to see my brother Trek's success story. My mom and siblings were very sad that we couldn't keep him. I'm so happy that he has a great home. Going from a homeless camp to leather couch is a pretty good gig! Thanks again! Wally a/k/a "Walter Pits"

Warrior the Brave
Warrior the Brave

1st Day Home: Warrior is doing great! He didn’t hide at all and has been all over the house checking things out. He slept in the bed with us all night with no meowing. He did wake up in the middle of the night wanting to be petted, but I told him “no” a couple of times and put him back at the foot of the bed and he went right back to sleep. He is a wonderful little guy. We love him! One Week Update: Warrior is doing great! He is such an amazing little guy – very fun and playful but also loving and snuggly. He sleeps with us at night, gets vigorous playtime with our daughter at least three time a day, and is becoming more and more comfortable with his surroundings. He really is brave (he never hid from us at all) and understands and responds appropriately when he’s told “no.” My daughter said it best – “He’s the cat for us!” Thanks so much for helping us find this wonderful boy. ~ Nancy

Whiskey
Whiskey

Whiskey is a true success story. Who would have thought that taking in one of those stigmatized pits bulls to foster would be one of the best things to happen to our family. Whether it is just an instilled instinct from birth for Whiskey ~ or ~ his ability to connect with a disabled individual since he himself has health issues with his heart at such a young age, I don't know. But, whatever the reason I am thankful each and every day for this four legged family member! Whiskey is truly the 'other side' of the pit bull stigmatism!! My son who is chronologically fifteen years old but developmentally five, suffers from both cerebral palsy and intractable seizures. One never knows when a seizure is going to hit nor have we in all the years been able to pinpoint a trigger. However, one thing for certain, is that Whiskey will tell you when he's having an episode! Whiskey will not only straddle over him during a seizure episode but Whiskey will also lick both his face and his neck in an effort to stimulate him out of the seizure. To see Whiskey in action is truly amazing!! The only thing better than Whiskey's assistance during an episode would of course be his ability to sense an episode in advance ~ but ~ beggars can't be choosers. Who would have thought this dog who once needed rescuing himself would forever show his appreciation for life by rescuing another in his times of need over and over again. Just thinking of him makes me smile. Just thinking of him always makes me thankful to Pet Rescue By Judy! My son in one sentence will call him 'Wikki' (which is his pronunciation of Whiskey) or in another breath he's just referred to as his 'weezer dog' (which is his pronunciation of Seizure) but one thing that never changes out of my son's mouth is his explanation to people as to why Whiskey is his seizure dog and my son's explanation is simple, short, sweet and to the point ~ Whiskey just loves him the best!! ~ Janet M.

Willie Wonka the Shih Tzu
Willie Wonka the Shih Tzu

I am blessed with Willie Wonka, what a dog he has turned out to be...he is wonderful and obedient. I never thought I would get another dog after my BUSTER was put down, none could compare, but Willie has been the best and more to me. Thur all of you at PRBJ and your hard work, those of us that have been blessed by a rescue dog/cat have been fortunate in knowing you and your good deeds. ThaNKS for all you do and will continue to do for the animals and humankind. ~ Love, Sherry A.
