Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Rosie the Maine Coon Beauty

I was just thinking about writing you this morning about rosie... She is an absolute doll, and happy as could be. Rosie acclimatized pretty much instantly when I brought her home. When I opened the carrier she stepped out, looked around, and "hey... This ain't bad...". No hiding or accidents, she just started purring and scoping out her favorite thrones.... Er, nap spots. We're still working out her grooming routine, she loves being petted with the palm brush, I'm just trying to teach her not to eat the balls of loose hair after I pull it off her, haha! Between grooming and finding a food she likes(she was a bit picky about her dry food, and doesn't seem very interested in wet food at all), She's also lost about a pound or so, which is not a bad thing, as she still remains a very healthy and ruebenesque 15 or so pounds. I must thank you for my new best friend, she's a very welcome addition to my home, and is constantly bringing a little love and amusement to me.

Ramius the Pure Bred Russian Blue
Ramius the Pure Bred Russian Blue

We are so happy to have the new members of our family in our home. The kids love the cats, our dog Tyson seems so much happier to have friends, and my husband has fallen in love with Taka. I think Ramius is starting to warm up to a new home again he is becoming more friendly day by day. I just saw him eat for the first time tonight. Taka on the other hand is always eating. He doesnt wander the house too much, he likes to hide in the linen closet, and he gets very angry if we try to take him out of it. I just lay on the floor next to him and pet and brush him and that seems to be the only thing that makes him happy. I'm going to continue woking on warming him up to be comfortable, but no matter what I am still happy to have him. Taka is our leaper, very curious, wanderer, lap cat, everybodys buddy including the dog, and very lovable. She has adjusted very well. We love them both very much, and are very happy Scott brought them back and that we got the chance to adopt them. I thank you very much for holding my number too, this adoption of these two have made our family very happy and I think it may have even brought us all closer as a family because we all lay on the floor in the kids/cats playroom to play with Taka and our dog Tyson every night. Hopefully Ramius warms up and joins the fun. I'm just going to keep working with him and hope he comes around. If not, I will still love my closet cat and enjoy our one on one time.

Raisin the Lab Puppy
Raisin the Lab Puppy

Hi, Janie! How are you? I wanted to let you know that we did a DNA kit on Pancho (fka Raisin). We believed the results would come back Lab/Shar Pei/Beagle?/Bassett Hound?, but to our HUGE SURPRISE, he is made up of the following: German Shepherd Weimaraner Neapolitan Mastiff Irish Terrier Cocker Spaniel Irish Water Dog Otterhound These were all the dogs that had a larger than 6% presence in his DNA, listed in order of largest percentage. Turns out, his SharPei looks come from the Mastiff in him, as well as his Cherry Eye. He has a lot of the Mastiff personality, too! He's very protective of us and his home but not overly - we have socialized him well. He's so very sweet and loves to cuddle more than anything! I have attached a recent picture of him snuggling with one of our cats, Lola, and another of him playing with our daughter, Gracie. He's such a fantastic addition to the family...he really fell right into place with everyone. Please add him to Judy's success stories. I also thought you might like to share his DNA profile with his siblings's families. We are planning on being a part of the Dash for Dogs, our company is going to do a "Mastiff" sponsorship. We had planned that before the DNA results showed up but now it really seems fitting! :) Hopefully we'll get to see you there. Thanks for sharing all this info with the respective people. We couldn't be happier with our "Heinz57"...truly a one-of-a-kind doggie! Hope you have a great weekend! Christina

Rabbit the Puppy

We got our Tandi (nee Rabbit) from you 2 years ago and know you do great work. I'm attaching this week's pic of her, just to show her off :-) and so you all can see the beauty she grew to be, and all because you rescued her mom & litter mates. Thank you!

Ralphie the Boxer Puppy

Ralphie, from NOLA's little, is doing marvelously. He's a big boy now, 59 lbs of solid muscle. We celebrated both his 1 year birthday in February 2011 and our one year since adopting him in April 2011, we don't know what we did without him. He is such a sweet pup, very smart and such a fun personality. We have had parties back to back weekends this month and Ralphie continues to be quite the social butterfly. We have received many, MANY compliments and comments on how well behaved he was, along with the sweet and cute factor. I mean, look at him! He's very comfortable in crowds, in meeting new people and dogs and took to his continued training very well. Ralphie loves being around people and other pups, he enjoys his playtime around the neighborhood. Ralphie's favorite game is fetch- whether it is in our yard, house or in the water. He's a great swimmer, but also loves chilling in his kiddie pool soaking up the sun. Second to fetch, would be chewing. He loves antlers, hooves, bully sticks and Kong products. Ralphie is also a big snuggler and would love to be a full time lap dog, it's very endearing as we've never had a dog so loving and cuddly. Thanks to all of you for creating such a loving and wonderful start to his life, things could have been very different for him. His wonderful temperament, sweet disposition and behavior are a testament to each of you! Lisa and Bryan
