Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Paris ~ DECLAWED
Paris ~ DECLAWED

I attached some photos of Paris in her Halloween costume (she's going as a bat cat) if you would like to use them on your "success story" page. She is really happy here and thriving more and more each day. She has actually gained a couple of pounds since we got her :-). She was a great addition to our family. Thanks, Seth & Stasha 6/11 Update: Just an update on Paris (or as we like to call her "P"); she is so sweet, gorgeous and loving! I must say she's getting used to the idea of being the princess of our house and takes very well to the "good life". J She's came such a long way in the short time we've had her - it's amazing! Attached are a couple of pictures of Paris or "P" being her feisty self. J If Judy hadn't have taken P in and saved her life we would not have been blessed with this amazing animal who really completes our life. P.S. P has come to learn that she can do whatever she wants.and get away with it.including crawl all over our dining room table! ~ Thanks, Seth & Stasha

Phoenix
Phoenix

Hey Judy, Just thought that I would drop you a line to let you know that Miss Phoenix is doing quite well and says Hi to her former Mommy. She'd like for you to know that she is still into Pet Visitations (just not as much now that Mommy is so busy with work and all). She's also been to Upstate New York for the past three years visiting a Great-Great Aunt (who sadly passed away this year on Easter - would have been 98 this November). She's participated in Paws in the Park. She's still pestering the crap out of Bastet who still hisses and spits and growls at her after six years! But Mommy has caught them playing kissy face too. Amadeus and Jazzmine are still fun to chase around the house, although Amadeus is slowing down quite a bit (he is 14 now). Attached there are a few pictures of her just being her usual cute self. One is of her being her cutie-pie self at home and two from last year's trip to Watkins Glen NY. No, she didn't ride on the dash the whole way, we were stopped for gas when this one was taken. Yes, she does travel with a leash and harness on, sometimes riding in Mommy's lap, most of the time sleeping in her cubby in the back seat. Take care and keep up the good work! When we can get a family photo, I'll send it on. Lindy G. and the Gang~ Amadeus, Jazzmine, Bastet, and Phoenix

Pinky
Pinky

My story by Bella formerly Pinky My new family fostered me for a couple of weeks to see how I got on with their two other boxers Holly another female like me & a big male called Bailey, they were brother & sister & a little older than me, but they were not deaf like me. They were brindle in color not like me all white so that was different, I liked them, it was good to have someone to play around with & they had a huge back yard to run around in which was great because us boxers love running. Miss Jo had 3 children they were very happy to have me & played with me & gave me lots of love. The kids had lots of friends too so I was getting all the attention which was great, I was in heaven, there was only one more person I had to meet & win over before I was officially adopted” Mr Dave”, he had been away for the two weeks I was on “probation” for want of a better word. Well he came in around midnight & I just ran at him wagging my little stubby tail & licking him, I think he was taken back by how stocky & muscled I was for a boxer, he said afterwards to Miss Jo he thought I looked like a Pit bull!! Well our friendship continued over the next week or two & my new family decided to officially adopt me which I was very happy about. I forgot to mention that my new owners have a pool which I did fall into the first day I got there, I did manage to get out of this however rather embarrassingly & wet. Since that time I have only fell in once more. I have been getting on well although I have had a few problems with jealousy at times with my new female friend holly we have had a few fights, I don’t know if it’s her or me it happens so quick. Sometimes we all go out to the big park & meet up with lots of other dogs this is great, we get to meet many many different friends there. I have done a couple of bad things like chewing some shoes & cables; I don’t know why I just get bored when they leave me. Bailey & holly will just sleep, and then my owners look at me in a mean way when they come home & that’s when I know I’ve done bad. I also like to dig big holes in the back yard, but Mr Dave say’s he can live with that for now, but I am going to try harder to please them in the New Year.

Princess Tessa
Princess Tessa

Tessa, formally known as Princess, is doing very well. She and Clio (chi/jack russell) are in the backyard running and playing right now. She has been a hit with the neighborhood children. They love her and she really loves them. She must have been with children before. She's great with them. She sits at the front door and waits for them to come out to play so she can go out with them. She is so sweet, but if given the chance she would run the neighborhood. She always has to be on a leash when not in the fence. I hope that changes so she can really enjoy being outside the way my other two dogs do. They are voice command, so I'm working with her on that. She had a couple of "accidents" in the house the first week, but has been great lately. She would pee and poop in her crate, but now she doesn't. At first she wouldn't jump on the furniture, but Clio and Jasmine (chi/yorkie) have taught her how to do that and how to jump in my lap. Now all three have to be sitting with me for TV time. We are still working on not gobbling food. She thinks the others are going to steal her food. I just separate her from the others during mealtime and that has helped. She loves attention and barks at you when she wants it. She and Clio play tug of war with toys and rawhides. They are my entertainment! She also loves to ride in the car. She loves to go on walks. She sits very still while I put on her leash. I think she is pretty happy here. She tries to be the pack leader, so we're working with her to just be a pack follower. She tends to forget that I'm the pack leader!!! She likes to ignore me when it suits her! That will change when she's been here for awhile. I do reward her when she does what she should. She loves the rewards!! Positive reinforcement always works. She has heard "good girl" a million times!!! We haven't tried a bath yet, but it'll be very soon. -Sherri T.

Pongo
Pongo

Hi there, Just wanted to give you an update on how Pongo (Tucker), the West Highland Terrier is doing. I absolutely adore him and feel this was the best home for him. Oh boy is he spoiled. All of my friends love him and he plays along great with others. I found him to be very smart and picks up on tricks quickly. I attached two photos that I took, one that I am using for the Holidays. Thank you again for helping to make him apart of my family! Your friends, ~ Elizabeth C.
