Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Just wanted to let you know that "Momma Michele" now called "Shelly" is doing great. I adopted her from your rescue back in June. She has a nice healthy coat and put some meat on her after having her babies. She keeps my 8 years old Golden retriever, Apollo, young! he has lost weight since i got her....lots of chasing. anyway ....she has added so many laughs and smiles to my life....thank you. ~ Amy D.

Hi Judy and family. We just wanted to send you this picture and an update on our sweet Molly pop. We adopted Molly earlier this year after she had been returned to Judy by "that stupid boy", as Judy referred to him. She was quite skittish around men (probably because of how the stupid boy was trying to house train her) and still is a bit. But with love and lots of patience she eventually warms up to anyone. We had no problems getting her house trained and she still uses her crate on occasion. She took to our Sammi (another of our adoptees) right away and was very sad for some time after Sammi left us back in September. She has several friends who come over to play with her from across the street and she loves to go over there to visit them as well. They have 3 dogs and a pot belly pig. They are all boys and she definitely holds her own with them all. They are always at her beck & call. We can't thank all of you enough for having enriched our lives so much with both the dogs and the 2 cats we have adopted from you over the years; as well as for being such a huge asset to the community overall. All of your hard work, love and dedication is so appreciated and so important. Huge hugs and tons of thanks to you all. Love the Shumway family

Lexie is 18 weeks old now and there is not a sweeter or smarter girl. Our family is in love with her. She is incredibly smart and is learning new things all the time. She has made fast friends with our cat Patches, our two Shih Tzus are having a harder time warming up to her, but she doesn't seem to mind. She loves to go to the Avalon dog park, but her very favorite thing to do is go play at doggie daycare at University of Doglando! She is being trained there by Teena Patel - who is an awesome trainer! I highly recommend her to anyone. Thanks so much for allowing us the honor of adopting Lexie, she is a true gem! ~ The Nelson Family

Dear Judy, You wouldn¹t recognize Trevor. He is built like a horse. He is tall with long athletic legs and a small chest. He still has big paws which aren¹t fully grown into. When I have him jump up we look each other in the eyes‹that is how tall he is and he just turned 1 in June. For his birthday we baked him a cake. Trevor was found at a week old in the bottom of a garbage can piled with trash on top of him and the lid closed. Trevor is still a pup with tons of energy and I take him to empty fields to run around and he loves it. He¹ll run until his tongue touches the ground. Even though Trevor had a tough start he is doing great and our only recipe for him is love. He is very good with people and has made a friend with the dog who lives behind us. We finally got a harness b/c he took me for walks. At 16 months he is 75lbs and I don¹t think there is an ounce of fat on him. Trevor too likes to play ball but Annie always beats him. The bottom line is that we are so lucky to have Annie & Trevor and thank you for saving them and all that you do. Knowing that all of these dogs stay at your own house there is no question you are doing Gods work here. Until we found you it broke my heart when I¹d go to Animal Control and the SPCA. I hope you win Extreme Makeover and if I win Powerball before that then I will build the shelter for you with my own money. I¹d like to rescue all dogs but you are actually doing it and for me that makes you a very special person. Rest assured, two dogs you saved now have a great life in a great home surrounded by love. God Bless, Skye & Laura

Hello, I just wanted to send along a photo of my 3 cats, all of whom were adopted from the Altamonte Springs Pet Smart on Adoption weekends 8 years apart. (The first two boys, Ming and Misha, were litter mates. Willow, the little girl, "found" me in 2002 at the same Pet Smart.) Thank you for making their safe and happy adoptions possible! -Elaine F.
