Minerva the Mama
Hi Jackie,
I just wanted to give you another update on my sweet ones. Raqsi has continued to gain weight, and last Sunday was just over 8 lbs (she was under 6 when I brought her home, you guys couldn't get her to gain weight)! She clearly looks like a little toughie now, Dr. McAbee told me I needed to keep an eye on it because we don't want an obese cat, but she hasn't shown much change in these past couple of weeks so I think she's reaching a plateau. Laily, on the other hand, while she's put on a few ounces, still has that sleek supermodel look about her. Both girls are highly vocal, when I"m home, if they aren't parked on the couch with me, they are calling out to each other or me constantly! You can tell that Raqsi used to be a momma, she frequently gives Laily a bath, which Laily seems to enjoy . . . to a point. Then Raqsi decides to turn it into a rough game and then they start tumbling and rolling. They still chase each other up and down the stairs, and i"m glad for that because Raqsi needs all the exercise she can get! Laily is my constant shadow, almost directly underfoot. She still doesn't like to be picked up and held, but at least she lets me pick her up for maybe two seconds and then put her back down -- an improvement. SHe does, however, LOVE to snuggle either on top of me or next to me on the couch. Raqsi is a little more independent, she may find a warm spot near us. She does become much more chummy, however, if I"ve recently handled food! If I fall asleep on the couch, she is usually on my chest when I wake up. She must get there very gently because I never feel her settling on top of me.
Laily seems to have recovered beautifully from all her tooth extractions. She has taken to wanting to chew and shred papery things, including the daily newspaper. I have tried to pass her the sports section, but she seems to prefer the editorials, go figure. My friend says she is trying to digest the information.
Anyway, they are doing very well, and I'm so glad they are in my life. I still cannot believe that Laily spent so long at the shelter without any prospective adopters realizing how fantastic she is, but I think maybe she was a little intimidated by the hubbub of all the other cats and didn't display her best qualities to prospective parents. In our quiet home she seems in constant ecstacy. Raqsi also seems well adjusted, I'm sure if she could speak she'd tell you I don't feed her enough, but otherwise I think she has no complaints. ;-)
I still think about the ones I left behind, and am so glad to see that Princess got adopted and that JackBlack has an adoption pending! I hope someone soon sees how great some of the others who impressed me are -- Vinnie and Salem in particular!
Thank you again for all you do.
Take care,
Shauna
Meyer the Shepherd
Dear All at Pet Rescue By Judy,
Thank you so much for introducing us to Smokey and Moose (formerly Meyer) they are the perfect addition to our family We are so thankful they were rescued by you and so blessed to have adopted them! They are both so well behaved and very loving. They both get along wonderfully, Smokey is definitely the one in control but Moose is fine with that, he is just a "big laid back dog"! We feel that they are thankful to have found their forever home. Please keep up the great work, there are so many animals in need that now have the chance to be loved and give back love like they deserve.
Thanks Again,
The Sung Family

Hello Stephanie!
I thought you would like an update on Miss Blackie. She's calmed down considerably since our first noisy nights. She spends most of her time sleeping on my bed but also comes to watch TV with me. She's a wonderful companion and I am so happy to have her in my life. I am enclosing some photos that Irina took of us. Thank you for all your help.
Sincerely,
Don

Little update...she did great in the car, obviously a little nervous, but a great traveller.
Right when we got home, before I even took her inside, I took her on a brief tour of the outside of my small complex and then we went on a nice long walk. She really does great on the leash and rarely pulls. In fact, she walks right off my right knee, exactly where you would want her to. She did ok when approaching or passing other dogs, but did have to have some small corrections.
We took a small break on our walk and I sat on a bench. She did bark at a passing dog, but she didn't really lunge. I corrected her. I don't think it'll be that difficult to socialize her. We'll see. I'll keep you posted!
Brought her crate in and put my blanket on it. Gave her a treat, water and a little food so she'd know where it was. She drank and ate the treat.
She still seems a little nervous, but is doing ok. She will go to her crate, but when she hears me moving around, comes back out here to lay on the rug. Think she's already starting to bond...she even followed me to the bathroom. We played a really brief game of fetch the purple thing inside. She went through her commands: sit, shake, speak and down.
I'll update you as we make more progress. Am calling my vet in the morning to schedule her check up. ~ Rhonda
Midnight - Declawed Loverboy
Hello Rebekah! Just wanted to give you a quick update on Midnight :)
I've brought him to my home already, after my dad took care of him for a couple of days while I was out of town. He has gotten to know me and my sister well, it didn't take him long to get along with either of us, he's such a sweet kitty. He know got to know my dad, and is getting to know my mom. He's been secluded in my bedroom for the next few days, as was suggested for new kitties. His food/water dish and litter are in seperate areas in my room. He uses them both very well. Except he has this thing with spilling over the water dish... heheh. :P But other than that, he's just the most adorable, perfect, sweetest little kitty. My big black kitty has not met him yet, though he had smelled Midnight on us and didn't seem to take it as a big deal. So I hope they end up being friends later on. I'm going to take it slowly for now, and I'll update you again in a week or so. :) Anyways, thanks so much to you all for helping me find such a great kitty like Midnight. He's going to be loved and cared for by all 3 of us girls here at home. :) Talk to you again soon. ^_^

7/31 UPDATE: I just wanted to give you another update on Midnight... He's doing wonderfull adjusting to our home and to my other cat, Blackie! It's so cute watching them play and cuddle with me. It's like having two kids of my own. :) It took them both a few weeks to get used to the fact that they would be living together and have to 'share their humans', but it all worked out well. I'm still so greatful to have the opportunity of adopting this amazing kitty. He's a great addition to our family and we look forward to many years loving him dearly. :) Thanks again to everyone at PRBJ!
