Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Lana the Black Mouth Curr Mix
Lana the Black Mouth Curr Mix

Yvette, Lana is doing well already. We are surprised at how at home she feels. We are taking it slowly with her and she has seen and smelled both cats. LOL she is more scared of the cats then they are of her. The boys are so happy they can’t control themselves! She was scared coming in and we just walked her around the house and made sure to give her space but also boundaries. I will send pictures as well so you can see her in our home and how happy she is. Thank you for the trainer. We talked with Judy and Karen yesterday and we will be going with the in home trainer this year. I also wanted to thank you for making this a wonderful experience. I also want to thank you for being committed to giving Lana to a good home and not a first come first serve basis. I can tell you that we know you made a great choice and we will do our part in making her a part of our family and take care of her and provide for her

Liebchen

Hi Judy: Carol Ann here. You told me that you love to hear about success stories about your "saves". Well, here is one you might enjoy: : LIEBCHEN is a rottweiler and my husband's darling girl. She goes to the office with him pretty regularly. They are together in this photo taken by Orlando Magazine. He is a crusty trial attorney and legal analyst. Isn't she a pretty and well behaved young lady? . When we adopted Liebchen from your group,(just after you brought her from the streets of New Orleans), she was a 9-10 month old pup, skinny, scarred up, heartworm positive, with the sweetest personality. She was to be "my" dog, but it didn't evolve that way. She has that instinct, that ability to spot a soft touch under a tough exterior, and went to work on him in her charming Southern lady way. The picture says it all. Whose dog is she really? Judy, we admire you and what you do more than I can express. You are a fighter, and, for those that need a fighter the most. I hope this little note might lift your spirits if you are having a disappointing day. Fond regards, Carol Ann

Luna the Terrier Puppy

Jennifer, I've been meaning to email you for a while, but time seems so overtaken now! I just wanted to let you know how Luna is doing. She is 40 pounds and very healthy the doctor says. She loves to run around in our backyard, tear apart her stuffed animals, terrorize the cats...let's just say, she's definitely a puppy! I hired a personal dog trainer who I had about 10 sessions with and she is easier to control, but not completely controllable yet. We're working on greeting people at the door and not jumping up. I don't think I've ever seen a dog jump as high as she does!! I have attached a picture of us on my deck so you can see how much she has grown - much bigger than the 17 pound dog I adopted from you! Thanks again for such an adorable puppy! Kathleen & Luna

Lilly the Coonhound
Lilly the Coonhound

Hi Maggie, Here are some pictures I thought you'd like to see. Lilly is doing great and has REALLY made herself at home. You didn't tell me she was so sassy!! When I tell her "no" she looks at me and starts barking. It's sooooo funny cuz she acts like she's talking back to me. I will tell her not to be so sassy and she just barks even more. I have to laugh at her because it actually looks like we are carrying on a conversation!!! Jim came into the living room one day while we were "talking" and asked what kind of conversation we were having. I hope you enjoy seeing her again. She's such a sweetheart!! She still goes nuts when I leave the house, but hopefully, as she matures that behavior will go away. She really loves it when Jazmine and Belle come stay with us.........they run like crazy in the back yard!! Take care and write when you have a free minute. Sandi Fox

Lulu the Tortoiseshell
Lulu the Tortoiseshell

Lulu (renamed Laily) has settled in easily and beautifully. Once she was released from her travel crate into the guest bathroom where she would get oriented to the house, she immediately checked out the cat cave and both cat beds. She acted as if she thought she was in shangri-la, she just coiled herself into one of the beds and wriggled on her back as if in ecstacy! She clearly understands how to get along with other cats, since she has been very patient with the 'tude exhibited by Minerva, who was adopted at the same time. Her appetite has been excellent. She loves to sidle up and rub against me, and seems to be trying hard to be friends with Minerva -- I think she is accustomed to feline contact from living in the open cat room. She loves to spend a few minutes playing with one of those interactive teaser/tickler things, then she's ready for a snack, a nap, or just more petting sessions. She LOVES to be petted. I am just amazed by her exotic beauty and her sweet and gentle nature. I am so glad she is now part of the family!
