Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Fletcher the Mini Dachshund

Last October, I had very mixed emotions about giving up my "foster" dog Lucy, who I had been taking care of while my brother was deployed with the Army for a year and a half. I was so happy he was home, but so sad to see her go back to Arizona with him. That same day at our vet's office, we happened to meet Fletcher when he came in with Pet Rescue By Judy. I fell in love with him and adopted him right away. He is truly the perfect addition to my little family. Thank you guys so much for all that you do!!!

Fitzwilliam the Fuzzy Retriever Puppy

It's been about 3 weeks now, and we are loving "Jersey" A.K.A. Fitz. He is a kind, fun and loving puppy who just loves to be around people all day. Jersey loves to be outside, and looks forward to his nightly "playdates" at the Dr. Phillips dog park. He has lots of friends to play with. Thought we would send some updated pictures of him for you to enjoy......We will continue to send updated pictures if you'd like? Wishing everyone a great day! Lesley & David

Flower the Beagle
Flower the Beagle

We have had Trapper for three years now and just adopted Flower. Trapper has been a wonderful companion, and we couldn't be happier with our family member. We kept the name "Flower" for our newest member, because it is very fitting. She is a sweet, dainty, pretty girl. She is also very quiet. We didn't hear her bark for a few days. Trapper has a loud, deep bark and sounds off when he gets excited chasing squirrels, lizards or his favorite toy - his Kong. We heard Flower bark the first time when they were chasing squirrels together, and she decided to join in vocalizing. She has a soft, squeaky bark that makes everyone laugh. Trapper is my shadow and isn't bashful about showing his preference. Jim, my husband, was so happy when Flower gave him her first kiss and has followed him around the house and shown him affection. Flower is also bonding with Trapper. They act like siblings, occasionally setting boundaries, but mostly doing everythin in tandem. It's so cute. Flower's ears are getting better. I had to take her to the vet to get more ear drops, and her ears were re-swabbed to see where she is at. Her eardrums and canal looked great, but there was still some bacteria, and we are continuing on course. They will be re-checked in a couple of weeks. Thanks so much to Judy for all she does as well and Colleen, Amanda and all the others at PRBJ. You all are the angels. You are a huge asset to this community, and you took in and made available to us our precious Trapper and Flower. Sandy

Fozzie the Bull Terrier
Fozzie the Bull Terrier

As you know, PRBJ had Fozzie's leg x-rayed back in July while I was fostering her, which only showed some arthritis/DJD. Her hock had begun to swell some recently, so we took her back to the vet just to be sure nothing else was wrong. Her x-ray on Monday showed major bone deterioration and the vet suggested we go to a specialist. The specialist today looked at the x-ray and said it was likely cancerous and she would probably need her leg amputated, which I thought would be fine since she only uses 3 legs anyway, but they wanted to x-ray her chest beforehand just to make sure it hadn't spread. Unfortunately her chest x-ray showed that she has pretty aggressive cancer that has metastasized in her lungs, and she is well beyond the point of surgery. She is beginning chemotherapy pills but the vet does not expect her to live another 6 months. This is all so shocking because she does not appear to be sick at all. And it is utterly heartbreaking news for my fiance and I, because Fozzie has been such a blessing in our lives. When I picked her up from your shelter to foster her back in June, she was too depressed at the time to even go for a walk with me. But since then, I have watched her blossom into quite literally the happiest and most friendly dog I've ever seen. She is a joy in every sense of the word, and she is absolutely one-of-a-kind. It's so unfair that it took her so many years and so much instability before finally finding a loving forever home with us, and now she's being robbed of it. I just can't believe that she will be leaving us after such a short time. I'm sorry for the rambling message, I just wanted to thank PRBJ for bringing her into our lives, and let you all know how much we love her and how much we will miss her. We have already spoiled her rotten since the day I picked her up, but we will be doing everything we can to ensure that she is comfortable and happy until it is her time to go. I can't even imagine my life without her, but I'm so thankful that for the time I have gotten to spend with her. Thank you again. -Katie

Forest the Declawed Gentleman
Forest the Declawed Gentleman

First, I should say that my daughter talked me into being a foster mom for cats. Well, "talked me into" is really a nice way of saying she brought me a cat that was completely traumatized in the most basic way that a human or animal can be traumatized. The cat was three years old when I took her in as a foster and in those few, short years had lived with an owner with a terminal case of cancer (and stayed by her side to the end), then was immediately moved to the dying womans mothers home. She adjusted slowly. Incredibly, a year later the mother died of a sudden heart attack. The cat was transferred by the remaining daughter from California to Orlando along with an small dog who had lived with the mother. The dog integrated well with the family and the temperament in the home but the cat had suffered too much in her young life and could not survive in that environment. She was reliquished to the shelter in the hopes she could find solice and peace with another family. I kept her for a few weeks to keep her out of the shelter. The experience would have done her in as she had suffered too much! The reason I know this is because I was recently rescued from an abusive relationship. The abuse was both psychological and physical and I am trying desperately to recover. I have been traumatized in a way that I cannot fully explain. You do not know me, but those who do find it incomprehensible that I would have fallen into this trap and more incomprehensible that I cannot claw my way out. To continue....I understood the cat and, even though she could not trust or understand me, we somehow managed to survive those weeks together. I have now survived those weeks and I am beginning a slow recovery. The cat has been adopted into a "forever home" by a most patient and loving woman. We needed each other then and we each served a purpose in each others lives. But, we are each too "high-strung" to soothe each other for long. Since then, I have been brought another cat. Older. Not as pure and with some "warts" and things that make him less than a showpiece. But, he is loving and soothing and we have had a connection from the beginning. He will be my companion for as long as he his here and healthy and happy. I urge everyone considering a cat from Pet Rescue By Judy to consider "fostering" if it appropriate for you. To help those you can to transition to homes best for them and, through that act, to find the one who will heal your heart and make your soul soar. Thank you to the incredibly intuitive staff at PRBJ and thanks for making me smile.....finally! "Forrest's" Forever MOM
