Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Chance Harlequin Great Dane
Chance Harlequin Great Dane

I can hardly believe the change in Chance. Deb actually took him to PetSmart with her to pick out a Thunder coat and a muzzle. Had to take the muzzle back, didn't need it. He actually greeted people at PetSmart. She then took him to the vet and had his eyes and ears checked. She was able to put drops in his eyes w/o him being muzzled. The vet did find that he is totally deaf and not only that, he is completely blind in his left eye and only half vision in his right. What a remarkable dog he is. Thank goodness Denise at animal services saw something in this boy that was worth saving and I too was unwilling to give up on him. There was just something there begging to come out with the right person. Deb told me to tell you Judy that he is the perfect fit. She said that he lets her do anything she wants with him. She keeps telling me what a good boy he is and how much she loves him. These are the endings/beginnings that keep us fosters going. Hugs to all of you, Kathy

Comet the Bulldog

Dear Judy (and everyone involved with prbj), I wish I had remembered to write sooner but I suppose Later is better than never! I hope everything is going well with all of you and the little babies you take care of daily. It's been three years since My boyfriend and I adopted Comet (the real love of my life, lol) from you guys and I wanted to let you know just how well he is doing. I remember when my boyfriend (Maciek) saw him online and instantly fell in love. He was so disappointed when he thought comet was adopted and couldn't even look at any other dogs to adopt and said he would reconsider in the future. WELL, a week later there he was! So we immediately filled out an application, called to set up a meeting with him to see him in person and right then he knew that comet had to come home with him. A few days later after you accepted the application I remember going down there to pick him up and fill out paperwork and Maciek couldn't even speak he was so excited. He just sat there filling out paperwork looking up and smiling. It was definitely one of the best feelings in the world knowing that comet was coming home with us. I can't imagine my life without him and he has truly been such a big part of both of our lives since the day we took him home. He's about 4 years old now and I have to say, he has pretty much the same energy as he did the day we got him. He's definitely living the life (in his mind) with daily bike rides, a huge backyard, hiking trips, the beach and pretty much anything you can think of. He's honestly so spoiled its obnoxious. Whether it be with a million toys or endless love from us and his/our friends and families. I really wanted to tell you what a wonderful thing you do for these animals and we can't thank you enough for letting comet be a part of our lives. We love every minute of him and hope that everyone gets the satisfaction that we do from adopting the animals at prbj. Thank You Again, <3 Lindsay, Maciek and Comet

Chance the Chihuahua

I cannot believe the I have been so fortunate to have been blessed 3 times in my life. 1. When I was living in Ft Myers I went to the humane society and met and adopted "pepper" a 5 yr old Basenji/Sharpei cross. He lived with us aboard our 40 ft motor yacht for several years and finally moved ashore with us in Booneville Arkansas.. While we were living there one winter we drove up to our house and there was a dog on our front steps - the weather was 22 deg and sleet. The dog had lost over 80% of his hair. When we opened the garage he ran inside. We took him to the vet and the vet said "I saw this dog yesterday and told the people what was needed to treat him." Evidently the were not interested. I think they threw him out in the country by our house. (there is special place in hell for them) anyway we nursed him back to health ( a gorgeous black and white cocker spaniel). He stayed with us in our rv until we found him a home on a ranch in NM witrh our friends. Our pepper died last year while we were living in Prescott AZ. We decided thatwe needed to give a home to another "angel" . Chance the Chihuaha is the guy - we got him today and he took to us like glue - he is our velcro doggy. Thank you for saving him and god bless you.. PS wife changed his name to "FABIO" Skip Pauline

Camy the Cutie *F*
Camy the Cutie *F*

Camy is doing fine. I do believe she likes us. We took her to the dog park on Friday and she did really well. She met our oldest daughter and her Vizsla. At first Camy was a little leary but she soon came around and they were running in the backyard together. Our youngest daughter rescued a kitten from a dumpster and brought it home along with her boyfriend for the weekend as well. So, I'm sure Camy was overwhelmed with everyone and all the animals, but she handled it all very well. We have all fallen totally in love with her already. Thanks for your concern. Please know she is being well cared for and happy! Kathy

Coco Roo the Boxer/Retreiver

Hi ! It’s been almost a year – and way too long before sending you an update on the dog we got last January – you called her CocoRoo, we just call her Coco (but she has many nicknames…usually CocoBean or CocoMo or CocoNut). She’s adjusted well to our household – she loves our rabbit but still doesn’t like cats – and there are a lot of strays in the neighborhood to chase out of the yard – which makes her very happy. She runs like the wind, loves to chase the Frisbee, go to the dog park, ride in our boat or ride in the jeep with us. She loves the water and has enjoyed a swim or two in Lake Conway! We’re still working on the leash walking and over excitable door greetings, but she’s getting better. She’s also a great watch dog – protecting us from lizards, bugs and anything that moves. Although she wouldn’t hurt a soul, her bark says otherwise and strangers hesitate at the door. That’s a good thing! Coco has grown a lot – she’s up to 70 pounds and her vet thinks she’s full grown now. Luckily, she loves a bath and often just sits in the tub waiting to see if she’s going to get one. Her fur has gotten thick and healthy. We love our spoiled mutt. Thanks for bringing us together! Her energy is perfect for our active life. . Thankful this Thanksgiving for our furry family member, Mark & Ellen
