Animal Success Stories

Second only to finding homes for our animals is the joy of hearing back from their new families.  We invite you to read along with us.  If you should decide to open up your heart and home to one of our angels, please send us a note and photo to tell us how it is going!  We will post it on this page so others can share in your happiness.

Chili
Chili

Hi Kelly, I just wanted to let you know that Chili (Aka "Moose" we named him) has been doing great since coming to our home on Monday afternoon. I am giving him the Doxy medicine twice a day. He is so sweet and carries his new toys around the house. He is so polite that he does not push on our screens but waits politely when I let him out in our fenced yard. I take him on walks but keep his activity low because they said to for the heart worm, however every once in a while he goes crazy chasing his tail :) He pants a lot but I read the could be because of the heart worm. Once he finishes his 30 days on Doxy I will take him to our vet to see how to proceed in eliminating the heart worms. Thanks again and please let everyone at Judy's know he is going to have a great life with us! Donna

Cookie the Pointer Mama

Cookie's 7th Birthday According to Pet Rescue by Judy's records "Cookie" was approximately six-and-a-half months old when she adopted us in December of 2014. So we "designated" the day (the sixth) we picked her up as her "Birthday" making it June 6th. We first met Cookie in September of 2014 when visiting Sanford. She had been at Judy's for about 15 months. She was originally dropped off with a litter of 13 puppies (which were all adopted). We took her out for walks on two of the days we were there and she was just wonderful. A bit shy and wanted nothing to do with the treats we attempted to give her. We kept track of her status once we were back in Maryland. We even treated her to a "Spa Day" at Paw Park Place for one of their wonderful fundraisers for Judy. Fast forward to December 2014, we were coming back for a visit and Cookie was still looking for her forever home. We decided we would drive to Florida and bring Cookie back home to Maryland with us. We were excited. We already have a German Shorthaired Pointer (Ryeder) that was turning one and we felt he could use a "big sister." Cookie was fortunate to spend some time with a wonderful foster mom, Daisy, during the time from September to December and when we picked her up she was already showing a lot more personality. Cookie has fit right in to the roll of "big sister" and sometimes "mother" to Ryeder. They love to go for walks, car rides and play in the backyard endlessly chasing squirrels, moles & birds. Like any sister, she has taught Ryeder a few bad habits like digging (for those dang moles). While frustrating, we just patch them and move on, they have so much fun it is hard to get mad over it. She has come to love her "treats" and as long as there is a corner of a couch for her to curl-up on she is happy. We thought being a "Florida Dog" she wouldn't take to our Maryland winters but she LOVED the first (any many more) snow storms of the season. She runs around chasing the snowflakes and doesn't want to come inside. She has even made a return visit to Sanford with Ryeder for "Pints n' Paws" Craft Beer Festival to support Judy's. We have to thank the wonderful volunteers & Judy for all they do for the animals. We are thankful Cookie found her way into our home and look forward to many, many years of fun & adventure.

Catherine

I just wanted to send a few pictures of Harley and Paisley (formally Catherine and Link).
We are absolutely in love with them and they love getting spoiled by us. They have adjusted wonderfully to our schedule and have brought such joy to our family! Harley is the lover of the two and Paisley is a bit stubborn. They both love going out on our boat and playing with other dogs at the dog park! We are going to take them camping next month and can't wait to see how they do with that! Thank you for rescuing our babies!!
