The Rainbow Bridge

...Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you...
I loved you so -
'twas heaven here with you.

Jasmine the Border Collie
Jasmine came into my life when she was about 8 months old, her original owner was abusive to her and I could not bare to see this any longer, I finally went to the owner and asked him to please take care of his dog, what he is doing is not right, the owner went outside to the short leash he kept Jasmine on 24/7, unleashed her and said if I wanted her, she is mine. I took Jasmine home, she was very skiddish at first and I had a hard time trying to get through to her, then one day in my back yard, I turned on the hose to give one of my other "kids" a bath and Jasmine perked up and started to play in the water, I found a way to get through to her. For the next 8 1/2 years, Jasmine was always at my side, awake or sleeping, in her last year, she started to loose her sight, I took her to a specialist but it is in the breed and there was nothing he could do for her. Even though Jasmine had very poor sight, she would still find me in the house or in the yard. Jasmine in the last months developed breast cancer, but as bad as she was feeling, I would still get a tail wag when I would sit on the floor and pet her and comfort her. Jasmine passed away Thursday afternoon, May 8th 2008 around 12:30 p.m. She is laid to rest in her favorite place under my avacado tree. She is survived by her brother, P.J. (My Chihuahua) her sister Bessie (My Rat Terrier) her sister Cupid (My Chow/Lab mix) and Nala (My black lab) ~ Jim Bryant

Trixie
Dear Trixie, you touched our hearts in so many ways in such a short period of time. Even when you were sick, you offered up your paw to everyone you met. Your smile made me smile. I’m grateful for the time we had together and I hope you felt loved by us. Despite our best efforts, Trixie died from pneumonia, as a result of contracting Distemper at a local shelter. You deserved so much better, sweet girl. We will always remember you. I hope you and Daisy are playing together right now, free of disease and pain. You have inspired me in so many ways to help other homeless animals and to fight for better conditions in shelters. ~ Melissa & John W.

Daisy
Oh Daisy, you are a perfect example of how many wonderful animals end up in a shelter and deserve a second chance. You certainly didn’t deserve to leave this earth so soon. Your sweet face and freckled nose just melted my heart every time I looked at you. After we lost your companion, Trixie, we were so hopeful you would pull through. I’m so sorry that your last days were spent in pain and discomfort. Daisy died due to progressive neurological Distemper, contracted at the shelter. Just know how much we loved you and how much we wanted you to stay with us. You will always be in our hearts, and we will never forget you. ~Melissa & John W.

Penny
My Dog Penny was the greatest! Everyone with a dog, thinks that there's is better than anyone else's, because they were close to them. My family got Penny on April 15, 1995. A few months before I was born. My moms mom thought that my mom was crazy, putting me on the floor next to Penny. She had never had a dog before neither had my mom. But my mom knew that Penny would never hurt anyone. She would spread my blanket out across the floor, and Penny would put her paws on it. She would never hurt me and she never did. Whenever I feel sad or lonely, or if I was crying for any reason what so ever, she was right there by my side... She would protect all of us if she even thought that the cable guy was bad. Penny never thought anyone to be bad. Which was why is was so weird when we had a cable guy come in and Penny would not move away from him. She was growling... It got to a point where my mom said, you have to leave. She had a stub tail. It was funny because she was always happy, and she didn't have a tail so she would wag her butt. Oh, and she was very lazy. She would go lay in the shade next to the dock when anyone was out there. But, somehow she was also playful. My dad would razzle with her all the time. She would play pretty rough... but is was so cute. All you heard was rurrrrr.... and an occasional ruff. I loved my Penny, Girl. But, it's not me that I feel sorry for, it's most defiantly not her. She is all better now with 2 eyes and no longer has to take her medicine, and no more hip problems. No, and I'll get over it. It's all the people who have never had a dog before. Dogs turn out to be your best friends, and I know that the worst part is when they go, but they make up for it with how fun they are and how close, and how strong your friendships are. Penny has been my best Friend since I leaned what she was. I loved that dog so much. And she's in a better place no with no more pain. And she died peacefully. She had a good morning, and then at 11am last Thursday she Howled and she had a heart attack. My dad did CPR and mouth to mouth and they drove to the vet, they put her on oxygen and her heart stopped a few minutes later, no cars no pain. She died peacefully and fast. I loved that Dog so much. She was my Penny Girl. ~ Kristin

Cocoa the Puppy
Little Cocoa, your life was cut too short! We adopted Cocoa from a rescue group in Orlando but she had kennel cough that quickly turned into pneumonia and it took her life after only 1 week with our family. This 9 wk old chocolate lab mix brought so much joy and life to our home. You were such a sweet and gentle puppy and we adored you the moment we saw you. We adopted you for a reason, to save your life but instead you were taken from us after such a short time together- Love knows no time and we are so sad that you won't get to grow up with us. May you feel at peace as you romp through Heaven and may you look down on our family and know that you have taken a piece of our hearts with you forever! Say hello to Max. ~ Jack, Angela and Children
