Duke went out for Dog for a Day and here is what the family had to say about their day with Duke:

Thank you again for the opportunity to play with Duke for a day. When we picked him up, he seemed hesitant to leave Judy but still happily hopped into our car. He settled into the backseat with my 7 year old and enjoyed watching the scenery go by. We first stopped at a friend's house for a get together. Duke sniffed my friend's 7 year old Shih Tzu and then got down to running around in the back yard. It was rather hot, so we soon went inside to cool off. Duke was right at home and we soon found he loves squeak toys. He also enjoys a good game of tug of war. He played very gently with the adults, my 7 year old and my friend's toddler. My friend who is more experienced with dogs than myself commented on how gently he played tug of war while managing to not nip any fingers. She also said he was rather quiet and well behaved. When the other dog took a toy he was interested in, Duke just went and looked for a different one. He wasn't interested in eating while with us but did not fuss over sharing a water dish with another dog.

After a short rest, we went to Burger Fi for some lunch. Duke sat happily under the table while we ate though he did get up to inspect people as they passed. He only barked once when a little girl holding a large stuffed animal walked by. Many other children walked by with no reaction so we think it was the girl's stuffed animal that interested him. He walks on a leash but pulls rather strongly. Still controllable and does come back when you pull. I was surprised by how active he could be considering his age. He still greatly enjoyed playing and running. He also got so excited to go outside that he reared up on his back legs and danced a bit which we found quite adorable.

------------------
Poor Duke after 8 1/2 years had a home and now is sitting in a shelter.

Duke's owner had children and he stated Duke growled at their child.  So let's find this sweet dog a home with no small kids. He is housetrained, happy, very playful, loves to cuddle and sleep with family members and would love a backyard to run after a ball in.  Please help us find this sweet very scared dog a family that will keep him for the rest of his life.
