Duley is a female terrier mix and appropriately a year and a half old. She was found in the middle of the road by an animal lover who quickly scooped her up. She is one of the most loving dogs you'll ever meet and eager to please! She does very well with other dogs and cats. She's learning her basic commands. She has some separation anxiety and does not like being confined to a crate. We found she does best in our kitchen with another dog for company. She loves playing with toys and would be a great addition to an active family that enjoys walks, trips to the dog park, and other fun activities!
Foster Update: April 2016
Duley is very loving and wants to give kisses all the time! Her greatest pleasure is being with you. She loves, loves, loves car rides. She is completely house trained and goes to the door when she needs to be let out. She is also crate trained. Duley has good manners when eating and is not at all aggressive with her food. We make her sit and have her
wait
several feet back while we set her food bowl down. Then, s
he makes eye contact with us and waits for our permission for her to eat. She eats twice a day at approximately 5:30am-7:00am and 5pm. She eats 2 cups of Nutros chicken at each feeding. We also make her sit and wait at the door for permission to exit. We go through the door first and give her permission to follow.
She gets along with resident dogs and cats. Sometimes she tries to get the cats to play and if it looks like she's nudging them we call her to quit. She likes to be the dominant dog so, we recommend that she isn't placed into a home with another dominant dog. She loves to play and is very vocal with a lot of snarly sounds, but she is just playing. She still jumps some when you walk through the door because she is so excited to see you! If you let her continue to do that, she will tinkle a little from the excitement. So, when we come home, we ignore her, walk out to the back yard and greet her calmly. We will turn aside from her if she tries to jump and walk so that she walks beside us instead of jumping up on us. I would not recommend a home with small children because she is so strong and in her excitement may knock them down.
She is very strong and pulls hard on her walks. We are still working on that. She will dig holes in your yard if left unattended out there for too long. She needs at least 1 good 40-minute walk a day which also helps meet her exercise needs.
She lets you touch her feet, mouth, or anything. She is very agreeable. She would do best in an active family that really wants a dog as an integral part of their lives!
