Description:

Martini is a very busy little girl.   She zips around and loves to know what is going on.   She has quite a bit of energy for her age and is very agile!  She was not responding to Martini when we first started fostering her, and we tried Marty with no results and then found out that Tini (Teenie) is a name she definitely responds to.

She listens pretty well, and she likes to lay on one of the dog beds throughout our house and is fond of the couch as well.    We leave her loose in the house at night, and I am pleased to say there have been NO accidents!    We had been crating her on the rare occasions when we were all leaving but she started hiding and getting upset so we have left her loose the last few times and she has been fine loose with 4 of the other dogs in the household.

She has become a good eater after turning her nose up at food the first couple of days she was here. We feed her  senior dry food with a small amount of limited ingredient (venison & sweet potato) can food.  I suspect she was fed table scraps by her previous owners as she was quite a beggar, but she is quickly learning from our other dogs to lie down quietly while we are eating.

Her hair is very fine, and the majority of it is on her head, chest area and her hind end!   It does tangle easily and she is not exactly a fan of being combed/brushed, but we are working on it a little at a time.  She neither likes or dislikes baths - she merely tolerates them, haha.   We look at the pictures online to try to figure out her breed....some of the Yorkie pictures look like her, while some of the Chinese Crested pictures look like her!   She gets along with the 5 other dogs in our house and joins in when they get vocal.

Now that the summer storms have started up, we have discovered that Teenie is terrified of them.   She does not even like heavy rain.    She will launch herself into somebody's arms or go into the dog crate that is plastic instead of the wire so that she feels safer.   She trembles and is no fan of bad weather!   We tried putting a Thundershirt on her the other day and it has made an amazing difference during storms!   She is still not pleased but she rarely trembles now.    We have also discovered that the Thundershirt seems to make her a bit less nervous as a whole and she is much more content to be held for periods of time instead of wanting to get off your lap seconds after she is on!   I would suggest that her furever family think about getting her a Thundershirt!
