Lexus is a dear sweet dog deserving of so much more than he has gotten. We rescued him from a high kill shelter in Georgia. Do you see the photo of him in the cement block room there? The note on his file said, "Very Scared." You think????
When he arrived to us, Lexus just didn't know what to make of things. Was this an improvement? Or was it worse? He moved to the back of his crate, as far from our volunteers as he could, and just watched. We let him. I guess he decided that things were better. He came out and explored the yard, slowly letting the fear and anxiety melt away. I do believe in one of those photos his head is tossed back as he laughs!
Update 5/10: Lexus was adopted to a wonderful home with 2 other dogs and a very loving mommy. Until recently when the owner because very ill he was living the life! Lexus is now looking for his forever home in a very calm enviorment with lots of love and patences. He is still very weary of strangers when they try to pet or grab him fast he cowers and growls. He isn't much of a water dog and dislikes baths totally. He is an excellent watch dog and loves to play frisbee. His nick name is Tater Boy!
Did you know that black dogs and cats are the least likely to be adopted? I don't know why that is. Maybe they just don't stand out. ZooToo recently interviewed Judy as part of a Black Dog Syndrome story that you can view at http://www.zootoo.com/zootootv/v/petpulse796blackdogsyndromeb2
