Description: Lillian came to us from a kill shelter. We don't know anything about her life before, except that she had at least one litter of puppies. She is very sweet and calm, and would be perfect for someone who wants a quiet companion.
Staff Update 2/5/14: Lillian is such a sweetheart! She gets along with dogs and kids, and she has great leash manners. Almost nothing seems to bother her. Her kennel "neighbors" will sometimes bark at her, and she just looks at them like, "Is that really necessary?" When a volunteer comes into the area to find a dog to walk, she stands and wags her tail, but unlike everyone else, she doesn't bark her head off. Oh, if you ever drop a piece of food, Lillian will find it. We find occasional stray pieces of kibble on the floor, and if Lillian's around, she's better than any vacuum cleaner. We of course are giving her plenty of food, but perhaps at one time she didn't get enough, and this is a behavior left over from that time.
Like many dogs in the South, Lillian is heartworm positive but don't let that stop you from adopting a great dog. We are treating her with monthly heartworm preventative, our preferred method. Many heartworm positive dogs go on to lead long and healthy lives.
Lillian qualifies for our Seniors for Seniors Discount! If adopted by someone 55 or older, her fee will be reduced.
