Description:
Mustang Sally and her sister, Kayla were found wandering around. They are both very shy and sweet but warm up pretty quickly. They are really attached to each other, so ideally, we'd love them to be adopted together! Would you think about giving one or both of these sweet pups a loving home??

Staff Update 11/16/13: We're seeing these girls really come out of their shells! sally will still check things out first and "tell" Kayla it's okay. She was the first one to get over being hand shy. Sally likes to pick toys up and carry them to some place else, which we guess is her idea of playing with them. She is good with cats. She loves going for walks. We think she would be good for an active household.

Like many dogs in the South, Mustang Sally is heartworm positive, but don't let that stop you from adopting a great dog.  We are treating her with a combination of heartworm preventative and doxycycline, an antibiotic that kills the immature worms and stops the adult worms from reproducing.

PRBJ treats ALL of our dogs with monthly Heartworm preventative. HW+ dogs are treated with the recommended slow method, using monthly HW preventative as it is gentler on the animal’s system than the more invasive, injection method. Most dogs that are Heartworm positive can lead healthy, normal lives if the disease is caught early and treatment began. There are different options to treat HW and new owners may choose to redirect their type of treatment with direction of their vet.  All HW+ dogs have a HW treatment info sheet in their adoption folder which will be provided to new owners.
