Description:
RC is an adorable little Lab mix. He is shy, but very sweet. We nick named him Perry after Refrigerator Perry the football player. Why? Well, one of our supporters offered to buy a refrigerator for our kennel if we would take this dog that she pulled from a kill shelter. Who could say know? After all, we needed a refrigerator for our medical supplies, and this little darling is just so cute!!!

Commands: RC knows sit and lay down.

06/16/2008 When working with RC I have found him to be an awesome guy! He is shy and timid but once he gets to know you he is one of the best dogs! He is a joker and loves to get all the dogs barking when he wants attention. He walks very gently on a leash and knows sit, be quiet and laydown. He is very submissive and learns very fast. He would make a great family addition!

Update: 06/18/2008 Found out that RC will walk without a leash and stay right by you. I point to my cheek and tell him to give me a kiss and he does. What a LOVE!

Volunteer update: I spent all day with RC at the Lake Mary Petsmart on Sunday so have a bit of insight into his personality. He is a very shy dog and is a bit nervous with new people. He likes other dogs when he is playing in an open yard but gets defensive on the leash or in the crate. He is very loving but i can see he will need some time to warm up to someone. I could also see him most comfortable in a less hectic household as he was very nervous around a lot of people and the general craziness thats happens during an adoption event.

6/5 Foster Update
RC has been a very well behaved dog. He is house trained and does not mess with anything in the house. He is very shy. It takes a little while for him to warm up to you, but when he does he is a very loving dog.

Volunteer Update 8/25:
Oh my goodness, RC is so sweet and well-behaved. I was at the rescue helping load up the van for Petsmart. Judy had brought RC and he was waiting in the car. I went out to get him and he was just sitting so properly in the seat. He greeted me sweetly. I tried getting him out of the car and at first he wouldn't budge. I didn't quite understand it. Then I got a leash. As soon as I put it around his neck, he jumped right out of the car with me. It was so cute. He knew he shouldn't be out of the car without a leash so he waited until he had one. He is just so proper and well educated.

*** How familiar are you with the Labrador Retriever? According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
