Description: Kipper is an adorable black lab puppy that we rescued from a high kill shelter in Georgia. He is a real doll. Kipper will be neutered on June 2nd and ready to go to his forever home!.
5/21 Foster Update: "Well, the puppy is doing great already. Is it okay if we change his name? We have been referring to him as Mogley...I had taken him to my beach volleyball training and he wanted to be in the bushes the entire time and just stands around like "seriously, what is going on, stop looking at me." Kind of like Mogley when he first ventured out on his own in the Jungle Book. Our roommate is already smitten with him. He is doing EXCEPTIONAL with our wo dogs and is just following Kingsley around like its his long lost big brother...and let me tell you, Kingsley is loving beeing worshiped. I will give you a full update on his personality and send some good pictures your way tomorrow...just wanted to let you know that everything is going well and he has done well for a 3 month old being thrown into a full dog household." 5/27 Foster Update: "This little boy is extremely smart. Potty training has been a breeze so far. We have not had one single accident in his crate and he has nearly no accidents in the house. The accidents he has had were not his fault either, he holds it as long as possible! I decided to start with commands last night and he learned sit in 10 minutes, tops! He is very food motivated so training is really easy to do.
He really likes to sit back and watch but when it comes to playing with his foster brother and sister (45 and 60 lbs, respectively) his 15 lb self really holds his own! He is such a funny and GREAT little puppy! I have never had a puppy that has responded so well to potty training and commands, you can really see him taking everything in and processing it.
He is still slightly skittish on occasion and DID NOT handle the 5 year old next store well when she ran at him quickly when he was not paying attention to her...but we are working on that. By the time I'm through with him, I plan to have him comfortable with any kind of quick movement. For right now, however, his new home needs to not have any fast-paced young children. In two weeks, I will rethink that statement based on his process!
He is going to make a WONDERFUL addition to someone's family!!!"
6/5 Foster Update: "So the little boy is all legs and ears right now! I dropped him off to be neutered on Sunday, picked him up on Monday evening and his ears are now standing up except for the tips of them! He has a cone on now from the neutering procedure, and his ears just rest on the cone, he is absolutely adorable and will be sending photos tonight! The cone doesn’t phase him either, most dogs you can tell are aggravated, stressed or just depressed with it…he could care less!
He has come out of his shell so much more since the neutering too…you can tell he thought he was just getting “dumped” again when I dropped him off to be neutered, and when we showed back up the next day you can tell he has a totally new outlook on people…he can trust them and have faith in them. This outlook has come out in every aspect of his day to day behaviors and how he now interacts with us, previously it was timid, now he he comes flying around the corner and cannot wait for you to give him some attention. Oh and how he prances around after he potties outside because he knows what a good job he did…and reminds you to praise him if you don’t remember yourself. He relishes in the attention and yet he isn’t too demanding with it. He sits for everything he wants with a “see Mom, I’m a good boy give me that food now!!” What is really wonderful, is that we have wood floors, and when he sits, he can’t keep himself in one place so he literally goes sliding backwards across the room until he hits something that will stop him, then he will stand up and run back to you to do it all again. He is such a ham!!!
He has done well with the neighbor’s little girl now so I will have no problem rehoming him with children!
