Description: Teddy Bear is one of the prettiest Chihuahua's we have ever seen. He is cream with a white flame on his forhead. And sweet? Oh my! This darling is so sweet you might go into insulin shock! Don't laugh, but just as I'm typing this I got a phone call from Janet. She had popped over to the foster's house to take a photo of Teddy Bear for the website. She said, "This is the prettiest Chihuahua I've ever seen! It was shaking all over when it met me, but bravely came up to sniff my fingers, letting out a deep growl do warn me not to pull a fast one. It was so funny to hear a big-dog growl come out of this little bit of nothing. It isn't mean at all. It was just scared, having been through so many changes in the last couple of days. Teddy Bear is going to make someone lucky a fantastic dog!!!" So what is this little boy's story? Well, sadly, one of his owners died and she and her friend, Abby the Jack Russell puppy, were left in the care of the sweet wife. Unfortunately, this dear lady is disabled and finally admitted with tears in her eyes that she simply couldn't care for them as they needed. We will honor her decision by finding them wonderful homes. What we know so far about Teddy Bear is that he is shy at first then very loveable. The fastest way to his heart is with a tummy rub and cuddling. He is paper-trained (probably a compromise that his disabled caretaker made) and sleeps in a crate but would prefer your bed. He likes other small dogs, but we don't know how he is with small children and cats. We'd love for Teddy Bear to go to a quieter home that will shower him with love! According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Chihuahua is the oldest breed on the American continent and the smallest breed in the world. Native to Mexico, nonetheless it seems to have been introduced by the Chinese. It was only brought to Europe at the end of the nineteenth century. The Chihuahua is named after the Mexican state of Chihuahua where he was brought to the rest of the world by travelers. This breed is believed to have been sacred to the Pre-Columbian Indian nations. The Chihuahua is a popular, economical companion dog. Courageous, extremely lively, proud and enterprising, it gives and demands affection. Bold and saucy, it moves swiftly to avoid being stepped on. Chihuahua's are strong-willed, intensely loyal and become very attached to their owners, even to the point of jealousy. They like to lick their owner's faces. It is undeniably suspicious of people except for its owner. When strangers are present, it follows its owner's every move, keeping as close as possible. This breed may snap at teasing children, after all it is too tiny to get away. The Chihuahua must resort to his sharp teeth in self defense. It is not recommended for children. He can be noisy and may require patience to housebreak. Many owners simply paper train this breed. The Chihuahua hates the cold and may shiver, although this may be due to high metabolism as much as temperature or anxiety. It will tolerate and even appreciate a warm sweater on cooler days. They are good little dogs for apartment life. Although it is tempting to carry these dainty creatures about, they will keep fitter if taken for walks. A body harness is safer than a collar. Don't think that just because he is small he should be confined to a small space. Chihuahuas have a life expectancy of 15 or more years.
