Description: Reese Witherspoon is a beautiful little Lab mix who was rescued from hoarding/neglect situation along with 22 other dogs. This sweet little puppy will surely find a furever home where she will be loved and well care for.
Reese had mange but has mange but has been treated for over a month and we suspect with good food, and some continued love and care she should continue to heal and is ready for her new home.
Here is what Resse's foster family has to say about her:
• Energy Level: High - Medium. Reese is very active when it is play time, but she does settle down quickly inside and in her crate
• Food: Reese eats about 1 1/2 cups of dry food twice a day. Adopters should be aware that they will need to keep her on a high quality, grain free food for her skin and coat.
• Adaptability: Reese can be a little afraid in new situations, but she adapts quickly to new situations with some encouragement
• Behaviors: Reese is a puppy, with out supervision she can get into things that she shouldn't. With a watchful eye and minimal commands she will stay out of trouble. When she won't settle down she goes outside or in her crate.
• Human Social Skills: Aspen LOVES people and getting attention. She seems to be as fine with men as she is with women. She hasn't been around children much but I think she would be fine with older kids. She is a little mouthy (puppy!) and very strong so I wouldn't recommend her for people with very small children.
• Animal Social Skills: Aspen is good with other dogs but she likes to be the one who approaches and greets. Sometimes when other dogs approach her, almost always when she is on leash, she gets a little scared. As long as she can be the one to do the greeting she is fine. She has also been to Doggy Day care and after a little encouragement she had a great time and made lots of new friends.
• Obedience: Reese knows no, sit, and come. We are working on wait and down.
• Training: Reese is very smart and learns new things quickly. She is crate trained, but sometimes needs help going in. She should be crated when no one is home.
• Personality Quirks: Reese is very mature for a pup – so much so that I often forget how young she is. Then out of the blue she will chase her tail or start playing with a toy all by herself and I am reminded that she’s just a baby.
• Ideal Home: Reese would be a good fit for almost any home. Although she would prefer someone with her all the time she does well in her crate while I am away. Just be ready to entertain her with lots of play time in the Morning and evening.
*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
