Description:
Minnie Pearl is a beautiful wirehair terrier who was rescued from hoarding/neglect situation along with 22 other dogs. This sweet little girl will surely find a furever home where he will be loved and well care for.

Here is what Minnie Pearl's foster mom has to say:

• Appearance -- Small, white with large black spots and some brown accents around her face, adorable satellite ears, short legs, coarse fur, a short & scruffy beard, and her right front paw's pad is pink. When she's getting bathed, which she is very good during, you can see that her skin is covered with smaller dark spots. Very cute!

• Energy Level -- Minnie Pearl is very high energy and needs lots of exercise.

• Food -- Minnie is eating Blue Buffalo's Wilderness  Duck Recipe. I'll give her a half cup in the morning with a dollop of plain yogurt on top. She'll eat half of this, then nibble on the food throughout the day until I give her the same amount for dinner that she'll eat a little bit of and continue nibbling on until bedtime. She also gets homemade liver treats, natural chicken breast chews, and boiled soup bones to chew on.

• Adaptability -- Minnie is a very confident dog who adapts well to every situation.

• Behaviors-- Minnie Pearl is a very smart dog and knows NO, SIT, and STAY. She responds immediately to her name, but only answers when called by the "pack leader". She ignores anyone else who calls her over. She is a big dog stuck in a little dog's body. She loves pushing big dog's around! Her personality is all Jack Russell! She's very feisty and not easily intimidated by anything. She truly believes she's large and in charge. Because of this, she wouldn't do well in a home with older dogs that don't want to play constantly. She enjoys chewing on deer hooves and likes squeaky toys, but isn't destructive with them. She won't chew on items laying around the house. She does get into her crate when told to and is currently sleeping in it at night. Minnie sleeps well throughout the night and won't make a peep until you're up.

• Human Social Skills-- Minnie is very good with everyone and does like children. She loves to have her belly rubbed and curling up on the couch beside you!

• Animal Social Skills-- She loves being with other dogs and plays very well with them, but she does like to play rough when she's comfortable with the dog. She really loves challenging the big dogs. Minnie enjoys wrestling more than running, but she does both equally well.

• Obedience-- She responds well to SIT, STAY, and NO and we're working on OFF since she gets really excited when let out of her crate and wants to jump up on you. She always answers to her name immediately whenever the alpha human calls her. She sits pretty for treats and she never tries to follow you out the door when told to stay.

• Training -- Minnie Pearl is crate trained and is currently sleeping in it at night in my bedroom and also goes into it when staying alone in the home. She's completely house broken and hasn't had any accidents in the house. She loves to jump up and take the treat out of your hand. She would probably do really well with agility training.

• Personality Quirks-- Minnie is very smart, but is a one person dog. Once she knows who the alpha human is, this is the only one she'll respond to. As stated above, she plays very rough with my dog since she's comfortable with him, so she needs to be in a home by herself or with other dogs who are just as energetic. She would most likely bug the heck out of older dogs. She still teeths like a puppy when she gets excited, so I'm currently trying to break her of this by offering her a stuffed squeaky toy to distract her from my hands.

• Ideal Home-- Minnie would be a wonderful furry family member for most households. She would do fine being the only dog or with other dogs just as playful as she is. I'm not sure how she would be with very small children because she gets very rambunctious and may knock them down. I'm also not sure how she would do around cats, but I'm guessing she would chase them around.

Won't you welcome this sweet and loving girl into your family where she'll never be neglected again?

Minnie is currently being threated for demodex mange. If adopted we will provide medication to help with the treatment.

According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Jack Russell Terrier was developed in 19th century England by a clergyman named Jack Russell. This feisty little terrier was used to hunt small game, particularly fox, by digging the quarry out of its den. Breeders have emphasized its working ability, so the standard is very broad, encompassing a wide range of accepted body types. On English hunts, the Jack Russell Terriers were supposed to be long-legged enough to keep up with the hounds. The energetic and playful Jack Russell makes a good family companion. The Jack Russell Terrier is a perky, merry, devoted, and loving dog. Spirited and obedient, yet absolutely fearless. Careful and amusing, he enjoys games and playing with toys. Friendly and generally kind to children who have been taught not to tease or strike the dog. They are intelligent, yet willful and determined. They have strong hunting instincts (stronger than your average terrier) and should not be trusted with other small animals. They like to chase and explore. Be careful not to let them off the lead unless they are very well-trained. Jack Russells like to bark and dig. They tend to get restless and destructive if not kept fruitfully occupied and well exercised. Jack Russells climb, which means they can climb over a fence, they also jump. A Jack that stands 12 inches high can easily jump five feet. JRTs are not the breed for a inexperienced dog owner. This is a BIG dog in a little dogs body. The owner needs to be as strong-willed as they are, or this little guy will take over.
