Description:

Thor Update: Thor spent a few days with one of our foster families to help us get to know more about him.

We foster Patch and he is a very high energy excitable dog that could really use a companion. So we've been looking for a playmate for him. Judy advised us to be careful as he doesn't love women, and we were, but honestly his time with us was quite pleasant.

Thor and Patch were wonderful play mates. They seemed to enjoy each others company and even shared a water dish with no issue. When he gets tired Thor just goes into his crate and lays down (we kept it open the whole time he was with us). He is house trained. No accidents to report.   We had friends over and Thor was friendly towards our guests.

Thor is definitely more partial to males. Which is a quality we liked (since Patch is a Mama's boy).  Thor likes to cuddle on the couch. He got a bath and loved it. He really loves car rides!

In my opinion, he would be best suited in a home with a single male. Although he was very loving towards me, it was obvious that he preferred Josh.  At night, he goes into his crate on his own and sleeps in there with the door open.

We did learn that Thor becomes very defensive when he is in his crate. If you approach him he will growl and bark.  This sometimes also applies when he has food, although not as prominently as when he is in his crate. I found the best resolution was to grab his leash and ask him if he wants to go outside. He immediately loses the attitude, exits his crate, and resumes a playful demeanor. If not, I walk away and try again in a few minutes. Usually if you leave the room he will follow you.

He was never aggressive at all, but was very defensive acting in the crate (with the door open). And even then, once he comes out on his own he is very friendly.

This dog would make a wonderful transformation given a few weeks to gain trust.  Thanks for letting us take him for a few days.

Thor was rescued from a high kill shelter. This sweet corgi mix was attached by a pack of dogs and suffered many puncture wounds. He was imediately transfered to a local vet for treatment but only suffered minor wounds. He is perfectly happy and loving!

UPDATE 2-5-16:  Thor needs to be in a male home - he does not like females. He is with dad and other male friends who visit but is nippy with daughter and her friends. Paulie said dog is great in the house . Judy

UPDATE 1-19-16:   Shorty/Thor was owner surrendered back to Pet Rescue by Judy.
According to his previous owner, Thor is housetrained and crate trained, likes other dogs, and knows some tricks!  He is happy, playful, and loves to cuddle.  He is nervous with strangers so he might nip.  He is also fine in a car.  As we evaluate him more at the shelter, we will update his profile.
