Description:

Foster Update 2/1: Naps are getting longer, now that Nikki is five months old.  She's a delightful and loving companion; always fun to be with and as playful as they come.  She will bring one of her favorite toys and drop it on my lap as a hint for a game of fetch.  She may only return the thrown toy two or three times, but it's so cute!  She and my Bengal cat play wrestlling games and sprints across the room, then pause for a mutual grooming ritual.

Nikki is a lap kitten and will do best as an 'only child'.  She'll jump onto my lap, curl up, and drift off to a dreamy sleep.  She is such a treasure and she will make any affectionate cat lover very happy.

Foster Update 1/10: At four months old, Nikki continues to be a bundle of energy, and a joy to watch at play.  She has what is known to cat fanciers as 'Tortitude', and can be quite a Diva at times.  She likes to get carried around, sometimes, and will sit in your lap and nap, always.  Torties love their humans and get very attached. Nikki sleeps with me and is my furry alarm clock in the morning. She will come when I call her name, but if the end result isn't food, treats, toys or loving, she'll meander back to where she came from.  She loves to play with my young Bengal cat, but gets ignored by my older Ragdoll.  He would rather rest at his age, but he still lets Nikki pounce on his moving tail.

Nikki's best forever home will be where she gets the attention she knows she deserves and where she will have a variety of playthings to keep her active.  After all of the toys and games I've bought for her, she likes straws and large rubber bands the best. She responds to 'no' immediately, and has learned her kitty manners well.  Very small children may not be the best match for Nikki, at this age, since her moods, from loving to let-me-be, can change quickly.  Typical Tortie.  But her devotion is extraordinary.

Foster Update 12/7:
Three months old! Nikki continues to be a bundle of energy and will wrestle with each of her sisters until they give up and run off.  She’s fearless.  But when she is finished with the rambunctious play, she is flopping onto your lap, or into your arms, for a much needed nap. Nikki needs a companion to help work off her excess energy.  She would do best in the home with another cat - maybe one of her sisters - that can tolerate her antics.  She is a purr-fect little girl.

Foster Update 11/7:  Nikki is the quintessential baby sister.  Although she was the last one of the three sisters to master running and chasing toys, she has the long legs of a sprinter now and will play with anything around her; toys, her siblings, people, and dust bunnies.  If you have dust bunnies, she’ll hunt them down and bat them around the floor until you take them away from her.  She has huge blue gray eyes that are just so communicative, and the softest fur!   She’s not afraid of the big cats...they are afraid of her.  She’s brazen, but will snuggle into your arms any time you hold her and purr, purr, purr.  Then fall asleep.

Nikki's Story

I was born in a barn in the country.  My mom did her best to care for me and my sisters and brother, in that corner of hay and rags where she gave me life.  Before I was taken away, she taught me what I needed to know about life and love as her baby.  She fed me and cleaned me up.  She taught me to cover my poop so other animals wouldn’t know that I was there.  It was a warm place to be, beside my mom, but our world could be a dangerous place.

One day, when the sun was shining and it was warm and breezy, two big hands came and scooped me up.  I heard someone say that I was so tiny that something dreadful could happen to me if I ventured too far from my Mom in that barn.  These hands took me up to a beating heart and I felt safe.  I miss my Mom.  We all miss our Mom when she’s gone.  But my Mom would know that I was safe, that I would be well fed and loved.  She will feel my happiness when I move to a new home full of warmth, and food, toys and soft blankets to nap on.  I know she will be happy, as she loves me still.
