Description: Foster Update 5/6: Titan previous owners must have kept him outside most of the time as he loves to be in the backyard for long periods of time. He has no problem entertaining himself for hours alone in the backyard. He would "hunt" the lizards and grasshoppers in my backyard all day if i let him. He enjoys catching them and eating them..funny i know? He is a very independent dog who isn't very clingue. At the dog park he was out on the oposite side of the 14 acres park hunting lizards and squrriels the whole time. When he needed a break from the heat he came running down to the water and wadded around hunting bugs in the reed grass in the lake. He isn't a great swimmer but will swim when her really wants a stick or ball I have thowrn out in the water. He is friendly with other dogs but still tries to hump some dogs. He listen very well and knows the word "NO" very well. He loves to eat and chew bones! He is crated very easily and goes into the crate when tempted by a few treats! His tail is like a whip and when highly excited can hurt a bit when i get a direct hit. He 100% house and crate trained and has never had an accident in my home! He walks wonderfully on the leash and if he pulls a bit i just give him a little correction with a slight tug of the leash and a no. He stops pulling right away even if there is a distraction like a cat or squirrel. He loves attention when in the house and will demand it by pushing his head between your hands. He loves to have his cheeck rubbed and scratched. He and my cat still get along great and i actually saw them sleeping together yesterday! He is a big lover and is very loyal! He will make a great dog for anyone!
Foster Update 4/29: Titan is doing great! He is such a happy go lucky dog. He is such a lover and demands to be pet by rubbing his head on your hand or rubbing his body on your leg! He sleeps in my bed or on the floor at night and is very patient in the morning waiting to be let out (since i'm not really a jump right out of bed person)! He does have a tendency to want to hump other male dogs but gets the hint when they growl or snap at him (he backs away from conflick)..but then forgets about the warning and tries all over again! We are working on this with a firm "no" when he tries to hump! He loves to play with other dogs and my cat. His favorite game consists of fetching a squecky toy that i throw and then running by me fast while i try to get it from him. He does passes over a over again untill he gets distracted and drops the toy. Then we start it all over again! He needs alot of exercise time...a back yard is a MUST with this dog as walks are nice but really don't cut it! Overall great dog looking for a great home!
Foster update 4/28: Titan is a wonderful dog! He gets along great my other two dogs and my cat. He is playful with my cat which pushes my cats (Penelope) patiences but they are working it out just fine. He listens very well and knows the words no and sit. We are working on shake currently. He is housetrained and crate trained! He seems to love to run and has a great horse like gallop. He chases balls but doesn't really bring them back. He is a rather large looking dog but pretty graceful when in the house! He loves to be pet and loved up on and i think really is a people dog (not so much a dogs dog..)! I'm not sure about kids as I don't have any but he seemed to do just fine at the adoption event with multiple kids petting him, he also meet a few at the dog park and seemed to like them.
Titan is a wonderful lab/terrier mix. We pulled him out of a local kill shelter where he was just too sweet to be left behind. Did you know that black dogs and cats are the least likely pets to be adopted? I guess they just don't jump out at you when you are looking at lots of animals. Well, Titan should ~ he is a real sweetheart! We don't recommend him for homes with really small kids. No, not for the reason you think, in fact, just the opposite. He wags his tail so fast and furious it is like a whip and a little one might get knocked over! Ha!
