Description:
Tweety is a very friendly gray tiger stripe girl. According to her owners,
"Tweety is a very fun-loving and curious cat. She is very friendly with just about anyone though she is nervous around young kids. She is not a lap cat but she is very affectionate- she loves to be petted (she rears up like a horse to pet you!) and loves head scratches.
Though she rarely gets any "people" food, Tweety has an innate desire for it. For example, if you are eating and the doorbell (or the phone) rings and you get up to answer it, she may be eating your dinner when you get back. Occasionally she may check out the countertops to see if food has been left out. Tweety loves bread. I don't know why, but if bread is left out on the counter she wants to try it. She loves lettuce! If you are preparing a salad she will know it and she will beg for a piece of lettuce. She really hasn't bee fed people food much, maybe a scrap once in a blue moon, but she sure has a nose for it. We don't really give our cats cans very often but maybe if her new owner gave her cans often it would diminish her desire for people food.
She likes to sit outside on a screened in porch or a window to see all the activity going on. She occasionally will catch lizards if they are running around.
Tweety was always nervous around kids before we had our daughter. She would hiss at them- I guess she felt threatened. But she has been great with our daughter. Tweety had a dog sibling for the first year of her life and did great with the dog but hasn't been around them since then.
She is declawed in the front and rear and litterbox trained, but she likes a really clean box (tall ones or covered ones work best) or she may tinkle over the edge of the box by mistake.
Tweety adapts to change very well and would do well in almost any home, though I'm not quite positive how she would do in a home with small children, unless they are very young and they grow up with her like our daughter did from birth. She is a very sweet, loveable cat. We want to see her go to the right home."
"I just wanted to stress again (mostly for the benefit of any potential new "parents") that although Tweety has faults she also is a very sweet, loveable, wonderful girl. Some people may not be bothered at all by her behavior, but I know some might be. I guess many cats have quirky behaviors and/or bad habits, but I would be heartbroken if someone took Tweety home but then didn't want her because she ate their food, etc. That's just a habit we were never able to break her of.
I thought of a few things to add to Tweety's profile... she loves when packages come in the mail because she loves to tear tape off the boxes! I ship out packages occasionally and she wants so much to help- she comes running when she hears the sound of the tape sealing the box. Another odd tidbit- for some reason, she loves rubber bands. I remember the first time I discovered this. I had brought work home from the office and I had a bunch of rubber bands sealed in an envelope. Tweety tore open the envelope to get to the rubber bands. I don't know if it's the smell or what, but I just want to mention this because it could be a choking hazard. We tried to keep all rubber bands away from her, but if there was one around she would find it!"

OK, I have to tell you, this is one of the better descriptions I have received on a surrender form. Too often people just want to get it over with and don't share any details. I think you can tell that these people love their pets and have not reached this painful decision casually. They are sharing all the positives and negatives so that Tweety's new family will have a good understanding of this girl. I wish all surrendering owners were so accountable!

Tweety isn't all that old, but I am qualifying her for our Seniors for Seniors program. Her aoption fee is only $50 for a senior citizen, $100 for the rest of us young chickens!
