Hello Fellow Kitty Lovers,
Meet Lucky, we call him “Ducky.” Lucky has been in our family since the spring of 2004. He is approaching his 8th birthday. We adopted him as a kitten from Pet Rescue by Judy as a gift for our, then, 6 year old daughter. Lucky grew up in our home as an indoor cat. As a kitten, he began to play havoc on our drapes and furniture, so we had Lucky declawed on his front paws only. His back claws still remain for defense. After the declawing took place and Lucky was healed, we lived harmoniously from 2004 to the present. Our family enjoyed playing with him regularly and he lived fully and carefree in our nurturing home for eight enjoyable years. As the adoptive family, we were sure to keep him caught up on all of his shots and physical examinations each year with Shaffer Animal Clinic (in Oviedo). We have kept a notebook of his healthcare to date. There have been no major health issues and his weight has pretty well been maintained for the past 3 to 4 years.
In 2008, our family has taken on a new addition in the way of a second child; who now, at age 3 ½, has been diagnosed as having cat/feline allergies. As a result, we must find a new and loving home for our sweet Lucky.
His personality is kind and loving. He enjoys greeting you at the back door each day as he hears you entering. He resides close by your side, as he desires your companionship. He delights in sunbathing in the nearest window, so that he can get a glance at the outside world. He is NOT the type of cat to make a “run for it” when the door is open. He will just sit and look out, not budging a paw. I think he is mainly intimidated of the unknown. He adores rubbing you with his head and belly. He’s wonderfully affectionate, a real “cuddler.”
He is a very schedule-oriented cat. He enjoys having a ¼ can of Science Diet Light Chicken and Liver every morning between 8-9 a.m. The rest of the day he moderately “grazes” on Science Diet Light Adult dry food in his drop down feeder. He weighs 13 ½ pounds and is lightly active. He enjoys climbing stairs in our two story house and playing with children.
He lets you know when he is apprehensive about someone or something by hiding under the bed or under a table. After a short while of surveying the situation, he’ll warm up and come out. J
He is genuinely friendly and relaxed. He never bites or scratches. The only known time(s) that he has ever scratched, are where my daughters were holding him against his will and in an effort to create traction for himself jumping out of their arms, his back legs inadvertently scratched them. He NEVER purposely “paws” at someone in aggression or hisses. He has always been around a menagerie of children growing up; therefore, he is always calm and submissive while in their presence. He’s a very quiet cat. You never hear him meow. If you do, you know that he is REALLY hungry or hurt.
He has not been placed with other animals, except as a kitten. He is used to be an “only child”, but I think he would do well with other animals because of his docile nature.
He loves to be massaged on the face, ears, and neck, the hard to reach places. J He’s a great addition to any family. We hope that you will consider becoming Lucky’s new adoptees. He’s a marvelous cat. You’ll enjoy him very much. Thank you for reading his biography.
Lucky was surrendered by his owner due to allergies. I think his face makes him look sad, but he is a very affectionate, loving cat. He was in a home with a young child and there were no problems, and he ignores the other cats in the cat room. We think he would be a wonderful addition to any home!
Lucky qualifies for our Seniors for Seniors program! If adopted by a senior (55+) his adoption fee is $25.
